It hit me at the tip that there are 68 teams that are 0-0. Why not see what he can do during the second season. I'm not crowning him but I actually saw fire and intensity from him that I haven't seen before. I saw a lot of players and a coach grow up tonight. I hope this one win doesn't merit an extension but I want to see what he has got in the tank because NOW WE ARE DANCING BABY!!!

We are hot when you are suppose to be hot. Everyone that's bashed him, this is all they wanted. This fire and intensity.

At least you're smart enough and man enough to admit you might have been wrong. I was really hard on him too and and called for his head just like most people, but I'm very proud of him and this team.

Its always good to see fans accepting that they might have been wrong. He has taken lot of **** from us, but it is good that he kept the players away from it. Players believed in him, and that is what matters.
I hope we continue to perform and win!
I said it is great to be a Tennessee Vol!!

I have followed Coach Martin since he was a freshman at Purdue. He has never been an outwardly emotional guy. He is never going to run up and down the sidelines dancing. That's just not his make up. However, make no mistake, you don't become one of Gene Keady's all time favorite players by not having fire and intensity. Coach Martin is as tough as they come. You can knock him down, but you can't knock him out. Also, if you ask him, this win had nothing to do with him, and everything to do with the players and fans.

Well I'm giving him credit because he deserves it. I like what I saw on the sideline from him and hope to keep on seeing it.

Oh I'm not saying i am wrong. Just saying that he's still the coach this year until he loses. Next year is gonna be a freaking sh!t show if Stokes leaves along with Maymon and McRae. Just saying I'm full Cuonzo for this team's tournament life.

I'm just saying that fire and intensity from him might look a little different, but maybe he is figuring out that he needs to put out a little for the fans. I'm going to bet the players don't question his fire and intensity. Martin isn't a finished product as a coach yet, but he is going to continue to improve. He is a grinder, you don't go from hitting 0 3's your first 2 years to hitting 179 in a career without having an incredible work ethic.

Hypothetically, if you don't take the most negative view possible...he will return 2 or the top 3 scorers from tonight, and add to that a 5* player.

It might not be as terrible as you think. Players do get better from year to year.

Wagons getting a bit full

I wouldn't say that. I'm more excited for the players. The thing is that what if we make a special run in the tourney? The frustration with people is that if Martin can win 3--4 or more games (I wish), where was it in the last three regular seasons. It would almost be like discarding the regular season because all you gotta do is find a way in and them you decide to win. I'm still leaning against Cuonzo but right now he is 1-0 and I will be happy if we can go 7-0

At the beginning of the game I thought we were done for. Schematically, I didn't see anything changing. Zones and length have bothered us for 2 years.

Then, Martin switched it up. A huge turning point was taking Barton out and let him calm down. Armani came in with balls of steel, sank a shot and got the guys going. Martin did a phenomenal job in getting the kids to believe after the slump in the beginning. Let's back this team 100!

We could have had some better results in Martins first and second year if we had gotten the bubble nod. We have been this hot every year around tournament time, but unfortunately we haven't quite gotten the nod we got this year. We could have made this kinda noise every year. I'm not saying we were as good those years, but just a point I wanted to make. But I'm excited about this team.

Did it not feel like Michigan tourney game in 2011 all over again for a bit? Hart and Cuonzo came out and they looked not happy.

Oh so you mean maybe we should wait and see how the season finishes?

Stellar idea, I wonder why nobody else thought of that.

I expected this team to make the tournament and Coach Martin delivered.

What I didn't expect, given events earlier this season, was the level of improvement demonstrated by this team in recent games. They are playing ferocious defense, creating more chances on offense, and even shooting the free throws at a higher percentage than they were in January. But what stuns me now is the absolute character these coaches and kids are showing at the very time teams need that attribute the most.

We've all seen what happens when coaches give up on players. But it is to the credit of this head coach that he never quit on his team the way Dooley and company quit on the football team at the end of their last season.

He isn't flashy and it certainly isn't pretty basketball. But in the midst of all the inconsistency and outside turmoil, Coach Martin managed to build a team that could survive an inept start and thrive in overtime with a display of stamina and willpower against a taller team using an 11-man rotation.

That overtime should be put on film and shown to all of our teams. That is the definition of giving your all for Tennessee.

Damn proud of the players, assistants, and the head coach tonight. Congrats to all of 'em.

I've said he should lose his job if he didn't make a strong showing at the end of this year and he's done just that.

Now if he wants an extension a nice little sweet sixteen run might do the trick.

Yea it's pretty sick. You won't see me jump on it. If Conzo will let these guys play their game and get out of the way (unlike he did at Texas A&M) they'll win some games.

Funny, because the players have said that things got better when they fully bought in to Coach Martin's system. Sometimes it's not about playing "their game" and instead playing a team game.
