I have zero doubt this team will continue to improve!

This team has a lot of grit and some raw talent, not enough yet but some. This team is tough to score on and plays good D until the end of close games. Being able to close out games comes with confidence and confidence comes from experience together as a team and trusting your shot and your teammates shot. I think by the time we reach the SEC tournament we will be one of the last teams the other coaches will wanna face. This team has a lot of heart and a lot of try in them. They will continue to get better.

It says a lot that their best player (Stokes) really doesn't have any idea what he is doing out there yet, and still manages to put up good numbers just by being smart and using pure athletic ability. The defense has become really good and the hustle is definitely there. They play harder than any of Bruce Pearl's last 2-3 teams.

This team needs a true point guard. If they get an elite PG, they will be phenomenal with 2 years.

I wish I could agree.
Unfortunately we have 1 guard playing out of position that would start anywhere else in the SEC.
The rest of our guards would ride the pine on most mid majors these days.
I can see our post game improving, but I doubt seriously that anyone in the SEC will be afraid to play us this year.

agree....It is a reflection of CCM...and his grit...the team has got name written all over it... give him time.....once we can close, then watch out....3 SEC losses that were all winable in the last minute. Several other OC loses that were also.....

You can't post anything postive on this site without getting negative responses....

This team is slightly better than what I thought they would be. However; I sure wished we had won the Duke, Memphis, Austin Peay, Georgia, Kentucky and Mississippi State games. We would be sitting on a 14 win record already and would need only 4 more wins to qualify for the NCAA.
Once Stokes gets more playing time, we will win a few more games that we normally would not have won.

I agree with the OP, but you must have forgotten about that elite 8 run. Pure heart.

From what I've seen so far, I can't help but be pessimistic about this team. The good thing about that is that any surprises they pull the rest of the season will be pleasant ones.

That elite 8 run was pretty ridiculous. You're definitely right. All heart. However, they hadn't played that hard during the season. If they had, then that run wouldn't have been so improbable.

Yes, they will get better. They are really getting up in the grills on the defense. They will be fine

No place to go but up after you lose to Austin Peay on your home court.

As for the heart of this team....ehhhh, not really.

i agree that they are going to continue to progress, i dont know that they will fast enough this year for us to get to the point you are referring to though. i expect to see major improvements made in the off-season and maybe some adjustments. look at ccm time at missouri state, 1st season 11-20, 2nd season 24-12 and 3rd season 26-9. his system does take some time to completely get into effect, i look for vast improvements from certain players, and the team next year.

Who are you, and what have you done with VolBeef?! I'm kidding...

I do agree, the defense has settled in for sure. Stokes is still learning and will still help win us a game we shouldn't. If we can cut turnovers just to single digits, we will give good teams a tough game. A win Saturday would offset the bad loss last night. Tourney hopes are very slim, but not impossible. Searching for a glimmer of guard play.

if we can cut down our turnovers to 10 or less a game we can play with anyone. hell we turn it over 20 times and take uga to ot at their place, that should say something about our defense.

I don't think we make the NCAA. But I guarantee you barring a total melt down, by the time the SEC tourny gets here we will be a team NO coach in the SEC will wanna draw. Ask any we've played so far.

If you don't think this team has heart, then you don't know what heart is. This team doesn't quit.

I think some coaches already probably feel that way about us, we play good D and have shown we can play with anyone already.

Exactly my point. And confidence is a scary thing in college sports. If this team can finally close out a big game the light switch could go on immediately and that would make this team even more fun to watch.

I don't know that confidence is the issuer, they gained a lot of codisence from Florida and look where it got them. I really think they just need more time, you have to realize this is the first major minutes everyone except tatum has seen. The other thing is pg play is hurting us and balk handling from very position actually, too many turnovers. I don't think they get it figured out completely this year, BUT can put it together on any given day and beat any team I feel. It's just the consistency they are lacking and that will come with time and experience.

I should have been more clear, my bad. I meant confidence in closing out close games. In all the close games this season they got timid at the end and played that way. It looks like all of them are looking for others to step up instead of all of them stepping up or several of them stepping up. The lone exception is the least physically talented kid on the floor, Sonny Bono jr. He can't be the leader down the stretch this team depends on.
When or if this teams realizes they CAN close out a game they will be a lot more dangerous IMO.

At home maybe.
Excluding M State, this team has been terrible on the road.

I agree. I feel golden has tried but is now criticized for it, I hope it doesn't permanently hurt his confidence.
