Because they have under performed so badly, and clearly this is the whole problem with our offense.

:eek:lol:

Seriously...although as posted elsewhere, their NFL stock has dropped a bit, this is still an excellent OL. Can they do better? Certainly! The NFL scouts aren't wrong. But they are far, far from the problem with our offense.

We have the best running attack at UT since 2004, with a leading RB, Neal, though I love him, that is best described as "adequate" or maybe "above average". They deserve credit for this.

They haven't allowed that many sacks either....7, which is tied for 21st fewest in the nation, along with bammer and Texas A&M (and think how mobile Manziel is).

I really don't get the criticism of our OL.

Each will be graded and drafted on his individual potential. I am not sure if any of our linemen can be drafted and be an NFL starter in their rookie season. They may go to a team and be forced in to the line up as a rookie due to injuries, but I don't think any of them can beat our a seasoned veteran lineman.

Foster and Hardesty, both after 2004, were better running attacks than present.

That said, I'm proud of the run game's progression this season.

I'd like to read this. Last I checked Tiny is still a first rounder, and none of the others are any less than they were.

Regardless of if its true or not, Id still take this O line over 95% of other teams in the nation, if not more than that.

Foster was a really good RB. We were coming off some years where we were very spoiled, and didn't truly appreciate what a great back he was.

Hardesty ran with such determination and grit, one of my favorite runningbacks to wear a UT jersey.

I like Neal a lot, I think if he continues to improve the way he has been, he could be making himself some $$$.

I don't get where everybody thinks the line is so awful this year. Last year defenses had to gear towards stopping Brey. Brey's not back there this year so of course it's gonna be tougher to run.

Agreed, and the way everybody has embraced Pig after the fumble is in stark contrast to the way everyone treated Arian. Very interesting dynamic in fan psychology IMO for sure - and it's directly related to the preceding years and the current expectation level

I don't know why people are saying Tiny's stock is dropping...he's an athletic freak and will be amazing in a more pro-style offense. Teams will drool over getting him.

Exactly. And yet, so far, we are doing better running the ball compared to last year. Go figure! :)

It was posted earlier:

http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-football/205534-mccullers-8-a.html

The direct post is here:

Hot 100 seniors: Anthony Barr of UCLA rises to top of list - NFL.com

52. James Stone, C, Tennessee (25)
79. Zach Fulton, OG, Tennessee (71)

The number in () is the previous ranking, compared to the current. So you can see they both dropped a bit. Tiny is not included because he's a junior. No other OL were in the top 100. It's just one guys opinion, but it is from NFL.com so I would assume it's a fairly informed opinion of what scouts are saying.

As for the second part of your comment, I agree! This is still one of the best OLs in the country. The perception may be that some considered it THE best. The highest I saw them rated nationally was 7th, preseason.

I list the drop in the ratings, which are of course just someone's opinion anyway, to show that maybe the critics are partially right...the OL may well be underperforming a bit. But some critics act like they have completely stunk it up, and that is just not the case. We are averaging over five yards a carry and in the top fifth of sacks allowed, and this is with new WRs and a (until the second half of uga) ineffective QB!

The problem with our offense is not the OL, even if they can play better than they have.

And if it's true that they have underperformed a bit, I want to see what happens when they live up to their potential! It should be pretty astonishing, because they are "pretty good" as it is.

I have a question. Not being a smart ash but, if you rush for 10 yards then fumble the ball, does the 10 yards count toward your rushing total?

Fumblelya? Fumblelina? Fumblerooski? Who is this Foster you speak of?

Foster has a school record of 650 rushing attempts in his career here.

He fumbled 5 times. That is an average of once for every 130 rushes. He played here 2005-2008, so that is 1.2 fumbles per season.

His grand total of 5 fumbles over 4 years happened at memorable times which is why people love to say Arian Foster fumbled the ball so much.

Wish people would do their own research and not just perpetuate the crap they read here all day.
