This is not very eloquent, you can decide on it's value.
Rick should say to the team what I say to my daughter, "Life is
NOT fair. You have to accept that and
NOT expect it."
Do we want life to be fair,
absolutely! BUT sometimes it is just NOT!
Job (Biblical reference) did
NOT deserve what he got. He wallowed around and complained about his lot and keep telling everybody he was better.
Everybody else measured him and found him lacking
based on their own personal methodology.
Skipping to the end ... God says (not a direct quote, but a summary), "I know what I am doing. You are not as smart as you think you are."
One poet said, “
Living well is the best revenge” (George Herbert?) Frankly, I don't know what his motive or meaning was, but my spins is ... 'make the best of whatever life throws at us, and weep no more, but LIVE!'
When we get lemons, we can mourn it! That is reasonable and expected! We suffered a loss. But dwelling on the loss ... is dark dead end alley.
When we get a raw deal, we can sit, wallow and complain ... or ... we can get up and
LIVE life to the fullest.
When we are done with the pity party. Grab the lemons and make lemonade and move on.
Or as one lyricist remarked, " ...
Woes are fleeting
Blows are glancing
When you're dancing
Through life...
And the strange thing:
Your life could end up changing
While you're dancing
Through! " (Dancing Through Life)
Now, it up to Mike and others to question the 'rules of the game.' But I am hoping our players say, we have a game against Longwood and winning that game is all that matters. The rest is just noise!
