I am fine with Fulmer sticking around. He won a damn national championship, does that not count for anything? I agree, personnel changes are sorely needed, and Tennessee needs to bring in somebody who knows how to run an offense. But Fulmer is not a bad coach. He didn't BS his way to an .800 record over a decade. If everything stays as it is now, I agree with you CBC, things will only get worse. We could even see a few losing records in years to come if recruiting gets worse.

Hamilton and Fulmer, this ship is sinking. Time to get the situation in hand.

:aggressive: Hey MILOHIMSELF, one thing for sure. Coach Fulmer and my VOLS have owned your little organization for the past decade. A little 6-3 win won't swing the domination pendilum.

HELP !!!!!!
I was on a band trip with my daughter and didnt get to see ut and sc game.  what the heck happened??????  I couldnt believe the score when I got home at 3 am.    What in the world is going on in Knoxville.    If you want to see a great offense  come to Weaver Alabama and watch the Weaver Bearcats.  3A school just completed second straight perfect season 10-0.  very talented running back and awesome receivers who no one can tackle one on one.  and none can be caught from behind.  GO BEARCATS    and come on VOLS  get it together.  LIfe in Alabama is not good right now.  But Im quick to remind them of the last 9 of 10 years.
GO VOLS :aggressive:

I would have said the exact opposite. :eek:lol:

Wouldn't it be nice if Southern Cal or Texas's offense showed up one night?

Yeah, I figured someone would take that the wrong way. I meant they put on the uniform and tried to play.

Somehow I get the feeling that Texas or USC's offense will NEVER show up wearing our orange.

What is happening in to the Vols? Many of yall will still argue that the coaching is not the problem, and I disagree. When it comes down to it, the players are still kids, and it is up to the coaches to coach them up before games. If the players don't play to their potential, take them out and get someone who is hungry and wants to acheive. Hence, lies my problem, with the Vols. Fulmer is so wrapped up in scholarship athletes, and I think that is a mistake because you could overlook a kid, as a walk on, who may be 10 times better than your scholarship athlete. When I attended UT, I saw plenty of kids who were actually better than the scholarship athletes. A system needs to be put in place to get the best out of your players, and that responsiblity falls soley upon the coaches and no one else. The players, on any level, will never have to answer for their performance.

With all that said, all problems falls upon the coaching staff.

Anyone who has followed UT sports for the past 5 years knew this was coming. Let's face it, last year was an oddity at best. We have seen this team fall off offensivly over the past few years. Last year Fulmer took a chance (to save his hide) by playing 2 true freshman. Something he has never done, and wouldn't even be a thought. We couldn't get rid of Fulmer no matter how hard we tried. But he will sacrifice the offensive staff to help his credibility (what little there is).

The offense needs a MAJOR overhall. But put this in perspective: Would you want to lose Chavis for a new head coach? Chavis will not stay around if Fulmer leaves, not will he the next head coach here. I don't like this any more than you, but Fulmer will be going nowhere.

I like a lot of your comments about seeing this coming 5 years ago and chavis not staying for a new coach, but i disagree with you on one point.

I think Fulmer is going to be gone in 3-5 years. There has not been a coach last in the SEC who routinely finishes 3rd or worst in the SEC, especially the SEC east. Look around the league, Donnely, Goff, Zook all got fired for years of finishing in the middle of pack in the SEC east. I wont even go through the number of coaches vandy, kentucky, and South Carolina have went through.

We are now in the middle of the pack in the east. We are losing 7 starters on offense and 7 on defense. We are not going to be competing to win the east for probably 2 more years when Crompton is a junior. Thats will be 3 season in a row of finishing 3rd or worst. There not a coach in this league who has survived doing that. Fulmer isnt any different.

But none of them (except Spurrier) have a National Championship, 2 SEC titles (back to back), and been to the SEC title game 4 times.

And just like big businessess, it all comes down to what has he done lately. Making it to SEC championship games doesn't mean anything if you don't win.

Fulmer will not get fired, the REAL people who run UT, won't do it.

There will come a time where he will be expendable. When is comes down to real business, it is about the now and not about the past.

"We are losing 7 starters on offense " this may help us next yr cause they have not made much of a difference this yr

They will not go 6-5 next season. This season will wake the players and teh coaching staff up. And, not to mention, next years schedule is very, very favorable.

I agree with you Milo, Fulmer is not the whole problem. He is guilty of being too loyal to his staff, but there is plenty of blame to go around. I am just hopeful that the coaching changes that were alluded to in a previous post come to fruition.

AS always though...

GO VOLS!!!!!

talent, yes. motivation, fundimentals.. doubt it.

i cant believe we couldnt score more than 3 points for an entire quarter of play. USC took the lead with like 11mins to go in the 4th. i didnt get to see the 4th but how can we go so long without scoring?

ps. notice again how all the games are super close? kinda like last year but with way more talent.
