I know the grand prize is yet to be won, but…

I agree with much of what you wrote. But think the comparison with 2019 LSU football is off in a big way.

The key is what happens next. Recall, after 2019 LSU won it all, the 2020 LSU squad went 5-5, and 2021 LSU went 6-7.

As a Gator, you may be hopeful in thinking this Tennessee baseball team will just go away after this season. Fade into mediocrity.

I don't get that impression with these lads. Tony Vitello is going nowhere, and is one of the best in the business. And I don't follow baseball closely, but isn't this a young roster? Hear a lot about freshmen and sophomores during the games.

So, no. Despite your perhaps fervent desire that the 2022 season be a one-and-done kind of occurence, like LSU's football team in 2019, I think we're going to continue to lead from the front in college baseball, for years to come.

Go Vols!

We return next year with our entire starting rotation.
We also have 38 HRs currently not in the starting lineup.

You took the comparison way too far. I wasn't thinking that far ahead.

So, I'll go into the context of what I meant.

In all likelihood, Tennessee may have future teams that win a national title, win an SEC title, win an SEC Tournament Title, etc. But, even if they have future teams that win that kind of hardware (which would be great), they're never going to have a team this good.

Odds are LSU will never have another 2019 LSU team. The Chicago Bears will never have another 85 Bears. The Chicago Bulls will never have another 96 Bulls.

This is an all-time great team that makes all other teams by pale in comparison.

Some of you have BVS really bad. I'm trying to tell you how special the baseball team is you have and you think I'm taking a dig.
I get what you're saying. We're enjoying something pretty special right now.

You can't beat the seeding. I feel confident after watching some other conference tournaments. Outside of the ACC, they look like little league teams scoring 20 runs each with zero pitching and 4 or 5 errors per game.

This team has extraordinary power up and down the batting order and an equally talented and deep pitching staff. What is mindboggling is how quickly Vitello rebuilt this program to the point that they are clearly the best in the country. Oh, and Happy Memorial Day to you, JP.

we all should relish the total domination of this team to date:
- SEC regular season and tournament champs
- 4-0 vs Vandy
- 4-0 vs Florida
- 18-3 vs SEC East
- 11-2 vs SEC West
- Won all four games in tournament by 3 or more runs
- 53-7 overall
- won 88%+ of games in a sport where that‘s pretty much unheard of

Amazing.
Still, the most amazing thing I’ve seen this season is after we lost to Texas we didn’t trail at the end of any inning for 20 straight games. Finally in game 21 (Mizzou if I recall correctly), we trailed after the completion of an inning but we still won the game. To not trail for 20 games, which included road series against Vandy and Ole Miss, is insane.

And to you, Rex. Hope you and all yours are well.

We seemed a little tight in the early innings last night and today. But when they let loose a little bit, you could easily see their greatness.

I hope they can stay loosey goosey because when they are having fun they play winning baseball.

Yeah, I couldn’t tell in person but Coach V said they were up tight during his “in game” interview. He commented that some of the guys were not swinging hard all the way, which you can’t do. His words, not mine.

I’m sure most teams are a bit tight in that type of setting.
