I like Butch Jones

I'm ok with this, won't be as much of a circus as Chucky, which would have been fun, but think he will be a solid coach.

Hey, this guy wanted to coach here and nobody else did. So give the guy a chance and let's see what he can do.

I keep hearing no one wanted to come hear. Who the hell knows? Hart is horrible at public relations? He only shared what he wanted. He have no idea who really expressed interest in our program and who didn't. Only a small few no. I guess now it doesn't matter. Hopefully, we don't have to revisit this topic in three years. Good luck Coach Jones:peace2:

I will give this guy a chance, but again, we shouldn't have to a google our coach past his three years at Cincinatti or ask fans to give him a chance. Those two things mean that he's not a proven winner at a a big time level! Big East vs. SEC = no comparison!

Why not go the Greg Roman route ala NFL if you want an unproven winner that at least brings buzz or drop more money on a higher level coach. It's not Butch Jones fault, but he will be fighting an uphill battle that shouldn't be fought. Our administration and BOT dropped the ball big time. JMO.:peace2:

I didn't have to google him did you?

He is better than Dooley, but wow these boards look exactly like they did 3 years ago.
"Give him a chance"
"No one wanted the job"
"He's an up and comer"
God I hope he is.

You must be a family member then. I've followed him at Cincinatti. He had some deccent seasons in a loser conference and got his butt kicked by Dooley. Sorry I'm not an expert on Central Michigan football and his prior assistant coaching stops, but I only follow big boy football.

We both know you've googled him Einstein.

This season, Cincinnati finished the regular season 9-3 with a 5-2 record in the Big East to share the conference crown. Jones's defense ranked 12th in the nation in scoring defense at 17.2 and 12th in red zone defense (70.6%), and Cincinnati has ranked in the top 20 in scoring defense in each of the last two seasons.

Can we also please look that the SEC should beat Big East teams every single day of the week. (Exception if Kentucky playing Louisville). Even Dooley beat the Big East. Being the successor to Kelly, I think he can win. You negavols are crazy. This guy has potential. He won with sub-par talent. Imagine what he can do with top-notch SEC talent.

Hey dumbass you don't know the conference champions?

No need for the profanity. I don't recognize the Big East Conference Champion because the conference is so weak, but that's just my decision. I will support our team and coach until I'm gone. I just think we could've done better. Hopefully, he surprises. Go Vols.

This is awesome! Have you guys heard of the new construction changes at Neyland Stadium that Cheek, Hart, and the BOT are planning with the new hire of Butch Jones? They are going to improve the view of the Tennessee River from certain points on campus by removing the upper deck at Neyland. There's no need for 100,000 plus seats anymore.

This hire is a joke. Listen, he's a solid coach, but can anyone honestly say they are excited for the spring game, that he will generate immediate excitement on the recruiting trail, that he will bring a buzz back to our program, that he will increase or unite our fanbase, and the answer is no!!! He is not a proven winner in a big time conference. The Big East is the laughing stock of the BCS, and we were dying to hire coach from there. He's beat 1 top 25 team. I'm sorry, but this hire should unite us, not divide us. It should excite us, not cause us to say come on guys let's give him a chance!

I've always supported my university as a lifelong vol fan and alumni, but I've had it. This decision not only hurts our program, but it hurts the city of Knoxville economically. Knoxville had a buzz when I went to college here in the 90s. Game days were exciting. Now it's a beautiful place to live with great people and complete apathy for a once proud program among very proud fans.

I hear Vandy needs a few more fans.

I love the fact that Peyton was trying to get this guy the job at Colorado. Makes me think that Peyton thinks he has great potential. We all know that Manning is one of the if not smartest football players of all time. Nothing but smiles from this guy when I heard that from BJ.
