I love the fact Dooley and Co. are always evaluating and looking for talent...

Question: The last staff were slated to pull GREAT talent to UT, no doubt. But why on earth did they fail to recruit Anyone at C or TE when these were clear positions of need?

Because in order for Kiffin to appear to pull elite talent, he needs to sign the highest profile prospects available, and that means needs may not be met, but people will talk about the talent instead.

Kiffin and Co. ran a spread-like offense. Lots of emphasis on running the ball, sometimes throwing when they had confidence in Crompton. We didn't use TE's much until we realized how good Stocker was. JMO. He should have gone after more O-linemen.

On the other point, the last staff was much more enjoyable to watch because they seemed to be in on all the top-tier prospects that we usually never expect to get. With Monte Kiffin, Frank Wilson, and Coach O on the staff, recruiting news was crazy. Our pitch was easy. Play for Monte, we'll get you to the NFL.

USC has used the TE a lot this past decade.

I like the fact the my wife doesn't cheat on me..... DUDE, seriously, THAT'S THEIR JOB!! Why are you praising them for doing something they're supposed to do anyway? Your love fest for CDD and staff is getting out of hand. He hasn't even recruited a full class or played a game and you'd think by reading some of your threads that he's working on his third national championship run. Just because he gets kids that no body has heard of to commit, somehow you're spinning that to, "they're finding diamonds in the ruff, man they're great recruiters...". Ever think they're taking chances on these kids and that they might not pan out??

Yeah, it was kind of a jerk thing to post . . . but you can't really argue with him. Praising a college coaching staff for constantly evaluating and looking for talent is sort of like saying you've got a good dog because he barks.

The lingering effects of the Fulmer era... Most on here just have not gotten use to a staff constantly evaluating in this manner.

it's no different than last year. we had spun how guys like Lamaison, Jose, and Pat Harris were gonna be All-Americans before they left.

Exactly. I'm just waiting for Eric's next slobbering praise of Dooley post. "He had him sum bakun fer breckfust. He's a troo Vawlunteer. He understainds our coolinary trudishuns on the Hill. Kiffin used to eet healthy. He sux."

I like what the staff has been doing lately. I think it is funny that they caught Scout and Rivals so much by surprise that they didnt even realize the kid had visited early in the week. I think Dooley is just more secretive than Kiffin.

so we ended up bringing in 5 OL for the '10 class.

2 OTs, 2 OGs, and 1 C.

i like it.

Good call LV! That's a good OL class! With the way things are going we're just going to add more this class as well. Should be set in two years.
