I must have been drinking a ton from '97-'08...

Phil may have trouble with mathematics.

His teams did win the SEC East outright 4 times(1997, 1998, 2001 & 2004) and tied for 1st 2 times. (2003 & 2007) which covers 12 years not 11.

Phil takes great stock in those SECE rings. I'm not surprised he would exaggerate the number of trips to Atlanta. His lapses in honesty are quite convenient for pumping himself up on occasion.

We did not go into games knowing we were going to get thumped while he was the coach. We did think we would find a way to lose to Florida but never felt as though we didn't have a chance in any game.

Oh yeah, I forgot...like in 2007...we figured out a way to lose by 39.

How can one be a Vol fan and still criticize Fulmer. He is the ONLY UT coach to win
NC in the last fifty years. He is a first ballot Hall of Fame coach.

Yea I'm enjoyed and appreciated those years. Sure was better than an unprecedented four straight losing seasons. Take away Fulmer's era and UT loses many of it's wins.

Any trips to Atlanta beats the last four years.

Root for Bama if you can't have a little loyalty for some that did a good job.

2008-1997 = 11

12 seasons, 11 years
You got the point. If you want to be more exact, it was more like 11 years, 3 months . I'm guessing from Sept. 1997 to the end of Nov 2008.

Edit: I looked it up for you. August 30,1997 through Nov. 29, 2008. 11 years and 92 days. That make you happy?

My girlfriend knows I am lying when I throw 7 out as well.

LMAO

Good ol' Phil. He will never admit that maybe...just maybe....it was time to go.

Fulmer: “I had some culpability in all this. I wish I had done some things different. I’m not going to throw people under the bus. The last time I had a bad year, we won nine the next year, back in the (SEC) championship the next. We had the No. 3 recruiting class in the country at the time. I would like to think we would have gotten it back on track. We were just missing some things from a chemistry standpoint.”

Fulmer: “The whole scenario was silly. I had just played for the (SEC) championship the year before, had a bad season, and most places would say that’s not the time to make a change. That sent us into a bit of a spiral.”

That 2007 team was highly impressive.

Made the SECCG and only lost to Bama and Florida by a combined score of 100-37.

it's no coincidence that vol football sank when fulmer was fired. Fulmer was captain of a ship that sailed admirably for many years. Unfortunately greedy fans and an incompetent AD sunk that battleship way to soon.
