In competition for playing time? And who are these All Stars keeping him from this playing time?
it's not about stars...it's about having a group of guys on the D line that are all about in the same place...they all have talent, they all lack experience...then there are a couple that are behind, like Bolden.

this group isn't there yet, we all know that, but they will get better...remember they played pretty well against Cal, and they played pretty well against Florida at least in the pass rush...the run stopping ability isn't there, but they are fast and can hit...we don't have that guy that can plug the holes though or can take a double team....yet.

it will get better...

I'm not trying to be rude but you can do your own research at Rivals or Scout. UT's d-line roster is filled with young 4 and 5 star guys. Bolden may be behind those getting the bulk of the PT but he is ahead of guys who were highly ranked out of HS.

I don't have any interest in defending him... just don't think some of these pessimistic assessments are legit.

My primary point is that losing to a very talented UF team by one point hardly justifies saying the team doesn't have competitive talent or doesn't belong in the SECCG conversation.

Rivals or Scout stars don't mean crap after they get here and don't perform.

As far as performing aginst UF adequately, UF had 4 new OL starters this year. Our DL should have handled them better.

From a pass rush stand point, they did pretty well. and don't forget, UF schemed to get around that, and it worked on a few occaisons, none more important than the Dallas Baker TD catch.

i think at this point you have give UF credit...they did what they needed to do, and wore down our defense late....T.O.P. became a factor late the game...they had the ball 35 minutes..and that had more to do with our offense not being able to stay on the feild late than anything else...

i just don't see this being as bad as some...it wasn't great, no arguement, and we need to be better, but i do think they will get better...maybe not so much better that we're in the SEC title game this year....

Sure it does. It means they have talent... and these guys have talent. It of course doesn't mean that they'll develop that talent by the third game of their soph season so as to dominate a team picked by many to be the best in the SEC.

Maybe. OTOH, the Vols were never out of the game and had the offense been able to make two more 1st downs we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I still don't see a good rationale for writing a kid off after so little time.
