I sure hope this team understands…

…that the Cats just hit their rock bottom. This could be the part of the movie where their moral leader calls a 2 a.m. team meeting at the practice gym, gives some kind of Remember the Titans speech, lights a fire in their bellies, Rocky theme fades in, and they come into TBA hungry like the wolf. We better not give that script one ounce of oxygen.

There's nothing moral about KY.

And the Titans lost to the Jaguars. Who wants to remember that?

I agree……but “he” may want to jump ship while it’s still somewhat afloat. However as this dumpster fire grows and everyone can’t help but stare……..his window is shrinking.

still thinking he’s at KY next year…….but it’s been said he and Texas have had real communications.

For the life of me I don’t know why in the world Texas would go that route, when they could maybe go Bruce Pearl instead. Their just stupid.

Again not saying they hire Cal or anything like that, but I don’t even know why they would have interest………he’s clearly on the decline and isn’t winning in the tournament.

I'm hoping this Vandy game was the "wake up" call game, where we were challenged and didn't play as great as we have been (defensively at least) but we weathered it and still won pretty much going away.

I also think we might have been looking ahead to Kentucky. Kentucky is down and all but it's still Kentucky. They are still the team we want to beat each season more than any. I don't care if they were winless, I'd be up for this game.

I think the Cats are showing more of who they are as a team rather than getting a wake up call. I don't remember any amazing performances from them this year to suggest they can snap to and playing at a high level this Saturday. They have talent and could win, but this is not one of the better UK teams which have come into TB Arena. Plus, we've had pretty solid results in Knoxville recently in this series.

This is probably the most humbled Tennessee team I can remember in a while. They know they are beatable when they get cocky and down play their opponent... example, Colorado

I still like the loss at Arizona. Really tough Atmosphere, we got screwed over but couldnt hit a three to put the game away or send it to OT. I know the Arizona players celebrating in our player's faces after that game really pissed us off.

UT knows they are one of the best teams out there but also are vulnerable

They haven't beaten a single team projected to make the NCAAT. Their best win is vs Michigan in London.

The starting 5 for Vandy only scored 13 points!!! That suggests that we were prepared and ready.
I would say that our scouting of the Vandy starting 5 was fantastic and the bench players we might have overlooked a little bit in our preparation ... or perhaps their bench just had a stellar night. We STILL held them under their season averages. Remember Vandy almost beat Missouri on the road 82-85. But that's rehashing ... let's look forward to Sat...

Beware Kentucky ... a loss at home tends to lead to a much better effort in the next game. KY is loaded with talent (maybe more talent that we have)!
This is not going to be a gimme.
One final note ... KY held SC to 29 points in the 2nd half that allowed them to get back in the game ... WITHOUT TWO OF THE STARTING FIVE!
KY make lack team chemistry and defensive effort at the moment (early season struggles on KY teams are more the norm), but rest assured Calipari will get this team into the NCAA tournament. They have too much talent to continue to play pickup games in the SEC. Cal is dealing with a bunch of players who are not yet on the same page.
I just want the righting of the ship be AFTER the game this Saturday.
Vols have the better TEAM .... and pull away in the 2nd half.

I feel like it is going to be a close game. They will find a way to be competitive even if they did lose to SC at home. We better have the energy and be ready. They are still talented even if they are not playing that way.

Stackhouse doesn’t always start all his best players. He didn’t start their leading scorer and rebounder last night. I think you’re reading too much into all that. Their best scorers generally come off the bench, by design.

One is clearly on a downward trend one isn’t.

One is at Auburn……how much “can” be achieved there? One is at KY how much “should” be achieved there?

I’m not a Pearl or Cal guy……I’m a Barnes guy, so I don’t care one way or the other.

I was just asking, I'm not a Cal, Bruce, Kentucky or Auburn supporter at all.

Agree. I think there is a much better chance the game is close than we just blow the doors off of them. I'm thinking a single-digit win for Tennessee. This is a rivalry game, much like Vanderbilt, and no matter how much it seems like one team holds the advantage, the other team seems to do enough to keep it respectable. Tennessee l, even bad Tennessee teams, rarely go to Rupp and just don't compete. I'd expect we get UK's best shot on Saturday and come away with a win, but I don't see us blowing them out.

I see us blowing UK out.

Tennessee is a way better team and Rick has beaten Cal so many times now.

I’m more worried about Bama than anyone else in the SEC.

I'm not an ounce concerned about Kentucky. Beating them should not be the goal. Anything less than a 20 point win should be a disappointment. That should be the goal. Total demolition. This is where we seperate ourselves.

The team shouldn't have to worry about finding motivation against UK. Who cares if they have a come to Jesus moment? What they do, doesn't dictate our preparation. We are above that. We are whooping that ass. It's just a matter of how much.

Come on man. We aren't the '96 Bulls. We lost to Colorado in a de facto home game just two months ago. So, now beating a UK team by less than 20 points is somehow a disappointment? That's the same attitude that got our rearends handed to us by the Buffs. I sure hope our team isn't as puffed up with pride by a bunch of wins over SEC also-rans as some our fans seem to be.

Maybe this was the same guy sitting next to me at the Vandy game. He said the Vols would win by 35+ and anything else would be disappointing.

KY has talent, they just aren’t putting it together.

Look at what SC was able to do on the road after they lost by 40+.

Kentucky will likely give Tennessee everything they can…….they certainly have talent to make this a game and even win (especially if Tennessee has an off night)……..but “can” they get it together for an entire game? We will have to see.

I think Tennessee wins a close one, maybe pulling away late. However I wouldn’t be surprised if KY falls flat as they definitely are crashing.

UK would be foolish to run him OOT. Everyone has a down year and when you play the one and done game it’s gonna happen. That said run him off and hire Billy Gillespie back. I’d be ok with it

but they’re not just having a “down year”.

They’re having their worst year, then having their worst losses, then not making the tournament, then having their worst exit from the tournament, then losing at home when they are a 20 point favorite………..it’s a snowball that’s been rolling for a while now.

I have no doubt that Kentucky will come to play in Knoxville. They have talent and are athletic but they don’t have an identity. They can play very well for 5 minute spurts but can’t sustain it.

NIL is a sea change for the blue bloods. Now they aren’t the only programs with big player payrolls that avoid being punished by the NCAA.
