I think Coach Jones really gets it.

Up to this point, CBJ is doing things the right way, building a unity between the players, coaches, and faculty. You can sense the respect the players have for this staff that wasn't there in the previous staff. I believe recruits will pick up on that and that's probably why we're seeing the results in that area already.

There's alot of "gets it" talk the last few months.

ps. Did you go to UL?

No I did not. Wish I would have though. But I have been a UL fan for awhile. Been a Pitino fan my whole life. Even went to his UK camp as a child and got a Autograph ball of the whole 92 Natl title team

Coach Jones does realize that this teams roster falls short when compared to the roster of other S.E.C. teams.

He will need time to build the roster up. Possibly two or three seasons will be needed.

He also realizes that Kiffin and Dooley were not accepted by most of the fans. He also realizes that when the fans talk, the A.D. listens. Well, he may not listen to one single voice, but he will listen when a majority of fans speak. Thus, fans can literally get a coach run out of town.

So, he is "buying time". If he needs four seasons to rebuild this program and by season three, the fans are fed up, then he will be run out of town before the rebuilding is complete. However; if the fans like him, they will tend to give him the benefit of the doudt and give him the extra time he needs to rebuild the program....

Whereas, Kiffin came in by putting USC pictures in the locker room. Dooley came in by distancing himself from the former players. Jones will get the support of the alumni, former players, students, fans, and current players....by having a "Meet & Greet" with former players and by talking about how much he embraces the U.T. traditions..

We are really glad that you get that he gets it. In fact, I get, that you get, that he gets it. Got it?

Rebuild the roster.
Listen, he has a top 5 O-line in the nation, with quality back ups. Worley and Ferguson aren't chopped liver, and he had to do nothing to get those guys. Croom is the next Calvin Johnson. Lane and Neal are servicable SEC backs.

McCullers, Couch, Miller, Williams, Walls, AJ Johnson, Magitt (when he gets healthy)McNeil and Randolph are better than anything he ever had at Cinci. And its not even close.
Next year will be a far tougher year than this, as far as the roster goes.
So, let's not act like he has a roster like Dooley had when he arrived. Bless his heart.

The faculty has never had access to the program. This is a great move by Coach Jones.

I haven't read the responses, but my prediction for this thread:

About 1/2 will agree.
About 1/4 will post the equivalent of "slow your roll (but I hope you're right)".
About 1/4 will post the equivalent of "we'll never win with junior league coaches".

Two people will get offended that our current staff was complimented, and turn it into a CDD defense thread.

Have they in the past? I'm kind of confused as to how that would affect the program.

Big rumors that there is a wide split between academics and athletics at UT-- i.e. the academics bad blood undermine the athletics. From what I understand, that was a big reason for the state of the UTAD financial difficulties, admission standards, etc...
