I think we might be in Big Trouble this year.

If you know anything about CBB, there are certain small programs that are historically tough outs: Belmont, Siena, Winthrop, just to name a few. Every year, I watch teams like this give the Tigers fits. Reason is, they are usually well coached, fundamentally sound teams that can play team ball. Couple that with not getting up for a small team and you have potential for a bad game or loss. Not hard to get up for jerseys that say Georgetown, Gonzaga, or Marquette. Little tougher when the schools' enrollment is smaller than these guys high schools.

your point has some merit, but Duke seriously sucked last year.

once conference starts, then we can see where this team is going..

Were on a huge learning curve right now.
were probably the youngest team in the SEC..

i'm not worried about 2 losses to a great Gonzaga team, and a temple team that was shooting the best its gonna shoot all year !

You expect next year without Tyler to be better?

Yes. Replacing Smith, an outstanding player who is stuck as a tweener, will be easier than replacing Lofton, J. Smith, R. Smith, and Crews, particularly with freshmen Negedu, Hopson, Tatum, and Woolridge, first year player Maze, and project Williams assumedly improving (not to mention a hopeful return from academic limbo from West.)

I hope it was sarcasm...if it wasn't...then I am safe in assuming this person never sat through a game that Wade Houston coached.

That's not necessarily true. In order for one to have lost faith in Wade Houston and his teams, they would have had to had some faith in them in the first place.

I have just logged on here but have read these posts for years--I have to say that I think this team really needs for someone to get hot-maybe two-and we can play with anyone in the country. All it takes is for a couple of shots to go down and I think we are a different team. Belmont probably would have given anyone a good game last night so I think we need to focus on beating zone defenses (esp 1-3-1) with some productive perimeter shooting and pushing the ball more regardless if we get a shot or not, We are struggling with the half court game, period

Agree, except for Crews, and R. Smith.
Lofton and J. Smith were hard to lose in the same year.
Rule of thumb is, it is easier to replace the entire front court, over the back court.

This is not a very good team right now, less T. Smith.

This is not a very good team, BUT look how young they are. This will be a year that the team develops so don't get all bent out of shape. I just wish that Pearl would kick Chism in the pants and tell him he is not a guard!

I guess the question I had about the Belmont game was this; We were sooo much bigger than them inside, so why didn't we pound the ball inside? Yep I'm sitting behind a keyboard and just played in high school but I have noticed our team seems to jack 3 pointers on teams when we have a big advantage height wise on the inside. Is the inside post game gone in college basketball?

Help me out on that one..........

Losing faith? Belmont doesn't suck you know. Get a clue.

Exactly Belmont is a tough, well coached basketball team. There are many coaches in NCAA basketball that would not schedule them for the simple reason that on a good night they can knock off all but the top 6 to 8 teams in the country.

We'll take this as a down year. For reference, we would have begged for a season like this during the Houston or Peterson years. The Green yeas were a little reprieve, but marred by horrendously lax standards and ridiculous underachievement.
exactly. we've already gotten a couple of good wins and a couple losses that aren't terrible.

can still win a down SEC. and this is still a tourney team.

i can't find fault with our coach right now. we're getting talent, we're playing meaningful games in the reg season, conf. tourney and NCAA's.

if direction of program is something that matters, it's hard to argue that the direction of the bball program is now headed in a negative direction.

It is a nice change for so many fans to be disappointed in a UT team that is a near lock for the NCAA tournament and is among the favorites to win the conference.

Can't please everybody. Did U see the thread the dude started a few days ago, wanted Pearl gone after the Temple loss?

Kentucky will not beat us. If we dont sweep ill be suprised. Look at their wins. They are all against smaller colleges or bad teams. KY just looks good right now cause they are playing NOBODY.

How can you listen to a UK fan. They got there own problems to worry about.
UT is playing a tough schedule and there are going to be losses along the way. With the exception of UNC all the top dogs have been knocked off.

What I meant was if this "fan" has a hard time having faith in this year's team and is disappointed, then they have never been in TBA when Wade Houston was there and all you could hear was crickets.

Truth be told some of the people disappointed in Pearl and the team, didn't start giving a rats behind about UT basketball til he got on campus.

We have a young team, give CBP some time, hes a great coach. The only complaint i have is Steven Pearl.......:shakehead:
