except this time we have documented proof of illegals coming here specifically to give birth, yet LG tells us they are doing this for fun.

Better/cheaper healthcare for the delivery?

Wheres Gibbs, shouldn't our women be crossing borders to deliver babies.

I'm going to Disneyland next year with the kids.

Can we stop by your house Droski?

I would love to show you to my kids and get your picture taken with them.

Nobody over here believes your real. They keep telling me "no, he doesn't live in cali, he has to be lying, maybe arizona, but he's not in cali. Only liberals live in Cali"

i'm not about to explain this to the wife.

My guess is local municipalities do not know exactly what to do with these people or their babies. They are misinformed or apathetic about it, therefore allowing the parent(s) to stay without reporting anything. I know my home town has literally hundreds of Hispanics there who come up to work. Many disappear after 6 months (many of them owing back rent or a car payment or two), many stay. The ones that stay frequently are seen with an infant after a few months being here. My beef is, if they are here ILLEGALLY, why are they allowed free anything? If I don't have a SSN or some kind of ID I would get refused treatment unless my life is in danger. I suppose a pregnant woman's life is in danger during delivery, but I don't see why the practice is allowed. If you are breaking the law, why do you have any rights whatsoever to anything the USA has to offer? Other than the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney.

I just kinda pictured the situation if it happened and it would be very very funny. My son would grow up thinking he met some magical talking bear in California and his daddy had pics to prove it.

They are forgoing the safety of their child by using our subpar health system, but it is a risk they are willing to take in order to secure citizenship for their child.

Selfish of them, of course, though. But better to use our terrible metrics than risk all the benefits.

If the kid dies because there is no incentive for the delivery team to succeed at their chosen profession, well, they can always just have another.

After all, once in the country, never out again, ever...

Ummmm, that's not the thread title.

There are no anchor babies. Its a misleading title that is used to lend support to the notion that the 14th Amendment ought to be amended to take out birth-citizenship.

A perfectly valid debate can be had on that. But you can't just pull out of your collective butt that people are having babies here in order to get citizenship for the parents, which is what the phrase is intended by the far right to imply.

It's just a falsehood, pure and simple.

who said anything about citizenship? it's about getting child support, education, healthcare, welfare, and making sure you don't get deported in the highly unlikely instance that you get arrested.

All over the net, man. And those are only the ones that make a big deal.

There was a mother, and for the life of me cannot remember her name, but she was caught, given 6 mo to nurse and then booted.

ACLU fought it, but I do believe they lost.

You are the one saying it anchors them here, so its your burden, not mine. This is especially because, legally, you are dead wrong and the statistics and other evidence cited in that St. Pete article lend no factual support at all to the notion that this is occurring, much less on any sort of frequent enough basis to worry about.

Why can't you just admit that you are mistaken about this and if you want to debate the 14th Amendment we can move on to something with some substance?

then basically what you are arguing is that people are traveling to have babies here because. . .?

They are grossly misinformed. Uneducated. Don't read our language and believe we have "anchor babies."

Hah. That almost describes some of my relatives...

And you haven't done your sacred duty to have them removed?

Hold off on them pictures Neocon...

Ask 'em what they were told. And also the names and addresses of those that did the telling.

We can actually do a test of the system!

Just found this quick.
Study: 4 million 'illegal' immigrant children are native-born citizens - CNN

Julie Quiroz, a 14-year-old U.S. citizen, has been separated from her mother for nearly two years. Her mom was deported to Mexico for being in the United States illegally

I'm not condoning illegal immigration. I think they all should be deported. But working in the Atlanta airport I see families separated fairly often.

Didn't you say that they wouldn't get deported? So no fear!

But, if you think maybe since they aren't "babies" anymore, just slip me and Neo the info.

We know what to do. The law is the law.

So where was the mom for the other 12 years? Wonder if she was getting healthcare, welfare, food cards?
