Persuade me Jack. Convince me that the number 10 SEC recruiting class is an indication of a championship just around the corner. Convince me that everything is JUST fine with UT's O/D lines.

Convince me that when Phillips, Hollins, Herbert, Oku, Stokes, Shackleford, and many others take a long look at the new staff and then say "No thanks" that it isn't a statement concerning them.

Please. Convince me. I am very, very tired of feeling the way I do.

dude, I never say things like this, but shut up.

i was really mad at first when i heard Brown chose uga cuz it really shocked me. i'm over it now and am happy with the class, especially richardson. also, getting the commitment from smith shows how good our class next year will be. hes like the jelani jenkins of 2010

Can you not form your own opinion? You're like a bird just chirping and dying to be fed...

I agree mostly. I was excited to get the entire staff together. The first thing Vol fans said when hired was that we were going to get the best talent in here. I feel disappointed in the fact that we couldnt pull some of the top talent that we did recruit. Yes, I know the whole, "not enough time" thing and the "relationships" thing as well. Both are valid, but I bought into they hype too soon I guess.
Saban didnt do well his first year recruiting either and that gives me hope. Alabama also has more top highschool talent that wants to come to Alabama every year as well. I feel it will be harder than this staff thought to compete with other SEC schools for talent in the future.

Good post, jake.

Even though you say you thought the fanbase was educated, you knew before today there were people who weren't going to be happy no matter what happened. Whether it be not liking today's results because they're still attached to Fulmer or because they live and die by the number of stars beside a player's name, it's impossible to please everyone. I do think that the large majority of the fanbase is still on the Kiffin bandwagon.

The Fulmer apologists who have went out of their way to say the Vols had a legitimate chance to win the SEC title every year in recent memory are the funniest on this day. To hang on to the hope that Fulmer was going to produce something after seven, eight, and nine years of failing, but then declare the next coach a bust before he even makes it to his first Spring practice is beyond hilarious.

We got some pretty damn good players. Perhaps w/ better coaching and playcalling we can win some games. There is much more to college football that winning the Signing Day Title.

You're right... long live the 2-9 defense... long live the 8 WR set... pass the kool-aid.

How did Auburn do it jake? I thought this staff was automatic? I thought they were SO much better than Saban et al? How did Saban pull the #10 class and answer Bama's immediate needs in his FIRST YEAR WITH ONLY 1 MONTH AS HC? He accepted the job during the first week of January.

I guess he's just better at making relationships, huh?

I'm so frustrated by this recruiting effort...

I don't care about rankings. I really, really like several of the kids UT got. BUT THEY DIDN'T FILL THEIR NEEDS. THAT is what a great recruiting staff ALWAYS does.
i can't explain auburn any more than i can explain what saban did in year one.

the year one turnaround is rare. it just doesn't happen to everyone every time a change is made.

i've been saying that since before the change was made, regardless of who they hired.

if you went in to this expecting great things, in the 1st 3 months, then that's on you not being wise enough to recognize what i and many others have.

and it's not like this is a top 70 class or something...it's 16...which is still ahead of auburn by the way.

as i stated in the op....just friggin' relax. it's just not that bad. hell it's borderline pretty darn good.

a) thank you for your honesty, i think most of the naysayers today did the same thing, but won't stand up and admit it.
b) don't come in to this forum and acutally use logic and rational thought. this is only a place for outbursts and knee jerk over reactions.

Jake pointing out common sense view points and facts to try to prove a point. Weak Jake. You can do better then that.

I will be honest. If I were a player and these guy came on late to me and I didn't love TN like I do. It would be hard for me to come here. I don't know what it will be like. I mean ya there are great coaches but haven't won a game yet. I understand why some of the kids couldn't pull the trigger. Especially on the Offensive side. No proof yet IMO.

Lets not bad mouth these guys. That may be a great fit for them where ever they pick but it could have been a safer pick to go elsewhere this year with them not proven.

IMO I think we will have a good team next year and a really good recruiting class as well.

BTW great post Jake
