I'm usually negative as **** about stuff but this loss bothers me absolute zero for whatever reason. Maybe it's the Avs winning the Cup, maybe it's the fact this defense and the scheme have been abysmal all year but that can be corrected in the off-season. Lose to Vandy next week and ruin the great things done completely then people can reserve their time on the Henley st bridge.

Dude upsets happen in this sport. But this wasn’t just an “upset”. It’s not like they played their A game and we played our F game and they squeaked by with a 3 point win. We got beat down and the team looked like they had zero interest or pride. That’s concerning level stuff. Not just a loss but the way it happened. That’s the difference here. How does a team with everything to play for come out and put whatever that was out on the field? That’s a loss that’s gonna be talked about in 30 years as the worst in UT history

No it’s not. Context. What ultimately did the GA state loss mean? Pruitt was always a joke. Or the Wyoming one? Nothing lol. Fulmer was already out. This not only cost us a playoff spot on national television, but this is the type of loss a program can go off the rails after. We will see what next week looks like but there’s concerns here.
Programs don't go off the rails after one bad loss LOL.

An inept AD yes (looking at you Hamilton); one loss, no.

No it’s not. Memphis in 96 was worse.
Yes that was worse. Wrcked any possibility of playing for the National Championship. However an argument could be made this one is close. With those teams Fulmer had the talent and you had feeling we would'be able to get back in mix in Peyton tenure. This one we cane out of nowhere and it seems likely to take a step back or two for a couple seasons.

I’m not saying the are going off the rails. But going off the rails literally does start with one bad loss when it leads to another bad loss. Vandy game better be over by halftime is all I have to say. Leave no doubt this team took this lesson and learned from it.

Did Memphis score 63 points?

I do agree with this. The outcome of the Vandy game will say a lot about this team.

In terms of consequences, it ranks right up there
It's impossible to know though long-term. So far, I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe Heupel won't have another equivalent season where we have a shot at the CFP. The coaching has been solid all year, and I expect that to continue into next year. We have a lot of offensive weapons returning next year so that gives me some confidence. We have to recruit and hit the transfer portal for the defense. There's literally nowhere to go but up defensively.

No but our offense was so stagnant that day as they were looking ahead. At that point we had never lost to those bums and we were #2 if I remember correctly with everything to play for.

Now this is a ridiculous thing to say.
GA State and Wyoming didn’t turn an almost certain path to a Championship Game into a dumpster fire. The stakes couldn’t have been any higher last night. So yeah, not sure I agree but the assertion certainly isn’t „ridiculous“

The talent level on this team is nowhere near that ‘96 UT team, especially on D, and this SC team has more talent than that Memphis team. Plus, that was at home and this was an in-conference road game. To me, these aren’t the same at all. This is more similar to the 2001 SEC championship game. Yes that LSU team was obviously a good team but we were up and then LSU lost their starting QB plus they were down their starting RB. That was a massive choke job and so was last night. It’s the toughest loss we’ve had in a very long time and the reason it’s so tough is Heupel raised our expectations. The fact he’s done that in year 2 is impressive. We just need to close strong and this will be a very good year overall. If we lose to Vandy then this year will look very different. We won’t though. We will bounce back.

SC played the best game they have in 5 years and we just didn’t show up on the road. It happens all the time. Something was up with Hooker too. I don’t know if he was pressing due to the tweeting back and forth or what but he wasn’t hisself. Hyatt just got manhandled and it took him off his game. He needs to be more physical to do well in the NFL. The wheels didn’t completely fall off until Hooker went down. If he finishes the game we probably lose by 11 rather than 25.
