"I Want a Double Wide Trailer..."

Unfortunately he had the work ethic of Jamarcus Russell and was about as coachable as John Wall.

I can see where someone would think this but like alot of young kids, he was so much bigger and better than kids his own age growing up, he never learned what a work ethic was.

The sad thing is, there are so many stories exactly like this out there due to bad advice and no guidance ina kids life. I feel sorry for him after seeing this.

I have a friend who went and played in the SEC and then went to the NFL and started getting bad advice from friends and family members and basically just quit due to the pressure. He now works in a factory and he said his 1st day on the job everyone was saying "I thought you were playing football" or they wanted to talk about his HS days. Unfortunately these guys are usually only remembered for what they did on the field. As far as my friend goes, he is 100x's happier now than he was playing football.

As for this^. Wouldn't that mean his family pressure worked? A little confusing.
As for OP, his mother actually requested the trailer while dropping Marcus off for his soph year. Rev, Marcus, and Momma met with Barry in Norman @ the start of Fall and Barry asked her if there was anything he could do "for her". She requested the double-wide. Barry was worried Marcus wasn't gonna stay for his soph year. The most powerful scene was Marcus taking the crew into THAT EXACT trailer, where his trophies sat, gathering dust.

he wouldve been better than walker had he stayed at oklahoma. i cant believe a freaking freshman rushed for 245 yards in the fiesta bowl against the #1 ranked rushing defense in arizona state and was only on the field for 19 plays

Watched it this morning. Awesome show. Very sad, but happy to see him finally make it to the NFL. Story reminded me slightly of BB situation

34 plays he played in. Out of 69. I believe 19 is the # of rushes he had.

Found an SI article from 1983 on him. I didn't get a chance to watch the documentary last night, but I've been looking up stuff about him all day long.

Took an excerpt from it...

Dupree is the odds-on favorite to win the Heisman Trophy next fall, the one phenom in a 1983 college crowd that figures to be unphenomenal. "If I rush for 2,000 yards and we win the national championship," he says of two things that might well happen, "they'll have to give me the Heisman." He's probably right, although whether he should be saying so is another matter. Despite not starting until the seventh game last year, Dupree, who is 6'3", is listed at 240 pounds and runs a 4.4 40, rushed for 1,144 yards to become the first freshman ever to lead the Sooners in this department. He was All-Big Eight; he was the conference offensive newcomer of the year; he had nine runs of more than 48 yards, as well as 13 touchdowns. Not long ago five of the eight conference coaches said if they were choosing up sides, Dupree would be their first choice. Nebraska's Tom Osborne didn't vote because, he said, he didn't want to offend his players.

Didn't read the article, but the title makes it seem as tho it was written in between Fr and So yrs. Which would put it right around the time Momma asked for the trailer.

One thing I found troubling about the story:
In the recent interview (truck driver Marcus), Marcus said that he still didn't know what happened with the banks and his accounts/loans. Its been 24 yrs homie, shouldn't u have figured this out by now? And Rev Ken was all mellow about it. Wth?

Good show but they could have named a lot of coaching thugs in there but didn't.

They left the dots for you to connect tho. They named his final5, and "Uncle" said everyone they considered made an offer, and if they didn't; they weren't considered. (UT was in there)
