I Want Penn State

Ye of little faith. Were you guys also preaching the pounding/trashing Cal would give us the home opener too?....

I realize it's a mute point since we will not play OSU this season, but I still gotta stand up for the boys in orange. It'd be a shootout with OSU and I think calling it a punding or thrashing is a bit harsh. OSU may be able outscore anyone, but they aren't the greatest team of all time by any stretch of imaginations.

No but I was preaching the importance of the game and pretty much got trashed for it!:cray:

No I was not. I predicted a large win and got it. Cal is no Ohio State.

If you think it would even be close you need to seek counseling. I love my Vols enough not to wish that kind of embarassment on them.....not this year.

Exactly how many OSU games have you watched this year? Exactly how many UT games have you watched this year? I think you are buying into what the mass media has built OSU up to be. They are not world beaters by any stretch. Granted they won all their games - but that ain't sayin much looking over their schedule. The 5 games I watched them play start to finish were anything but impressive. I watched every UT game and think we could match up given enough prep time.

And, yes, I think UT could keep it close with them. Something like 48-42 (winners) :dance2:

If the Vols could keep it close with Ohio State, you must think Florida, LSU, and Arkansas would all destroy OSU, no?

I think the top SEC teams can hang with and possibly beat Ohio State. I agree with UT IE 95, Ohio State has been hyped up to be world-beaters... and you all are buying into it. They're not THAT good. Florida, LSU, Arkansas, and Tennessee could very well hang with and defeat Ohio State.

Destroy them? No, but I would expect them to win.

Just as an example of the facts:
OSU opponents record: 67-65
UT opponents record: 82-60

Now if you listen to ESPN and ABC they'll make you believe OSU is unstoppable - but they haven't been tested. Pretty easy for them to build stats against sub-par competition.

I agree that Cal is no Ohio State, but they are not terrible either. OSU has only played a 3-loss Texas team and another overrated team in Michigan. OSU playing Michigan is like Louisville playing West Virginia. They all play in a vacuum, so its hard to tell how good they would be if they played a good SEC team.

Also, based on OSU giving up 39 points to Michigan, I think the Vols would have a very good chance against OSU.

ugh... just cuz michigan isn't a SEC school doesn't mean they're not a very very very good football team. get off your SEC highhorse and realize football is played in many many other areas in this country

1) never said that michigan was not a very good team, just that they are overrated

2) not on a high horse

3) realize that football is played on other areas

4) still think the Vols could put up mega points on slow Big 10 defenses.
