Baylor had to overcome an 18-pt deficit vs SJU. They needed 10 extra minutes of game time to do it. They exerted themselves significantly more, not only physically, but also emotionally in that comeback win. Disagree if you like.
If Baylor was that good they shouldn't have been down 18......apparently didn't want get exerted and fell behind ....
Go Vols!!!!!!!!!.

I just went to ESPN's men's basketball front page. You want find any mention of TN there. Even though TN vs Baylor was the highest profile game of the week - nothing. You will find a picture of Duke's Cooper Flagg and Mark Pope. Last night's win must have been vacated due to Baylor's fatigue.

Awww...did I offend your super-sensitive Volunteer feelings? Have you ever thought about being a professional victim who believes the big bad media just auto-always hates Tennessee? ESPN hates us, and now CBS hates us too! Woe is you...😭

No room for independent, unbiased thought around here, I guess. Just toe the victim line and I'll be fine. Noted.
No, I was serious..have you ever thought about being an analyst for CBS Sports? But since you mentioned it, ESPN does hate us.

The CBSSN Inside College Basketball praised the Vols and Barnes heavily on this morning's show. Same people too. Led their show with it and talked about how great Barnes is at getting his players in sync with one another.

To be fair, Baylor was in a more competitive game that lasted 10 minutes of game time longer. They got more sleep, but Tennessee arguably got more rest by not needing to overexert themselves in the 2nd half vs Virginia and didn't play two additional periods.

Good points but Baylor started slow and had more energy in the 2nd half which goes against the "exhausted Baylor" narrative. Some of that might have been due to horrible, one-sided officiating in the second half, the hometown Bahamas kid being aggressive and getting away with murder. Also, our some of our guys seemed to let off the gas a bit and Igor was in foul trouble due to weak and phantom calls.

Baylor also did a better job defending Lanier who did not seem to be looking for his shot as much with Baylor being all over him and Chaz not moving a lot without the ball. Overall, it's early in the season with Baylor being healthy so they shouldn't have been nearly as tired as the clown show CBS Sports network's narrative they were pushing.

Thanks, I do. Just seems you’re working awfully hard to defend the Baylor side when there is at least an equal argument to be made in favor of our Vols in this regard. But hey, your post is your nickel.

Difference in energy was negligible. Our lockdown defense and waves of strong, athletic bodies lead by a quick jitterbug type PG like ZZ had much more to do with any "fatigue" that Baylor suffered. Roach got locked down by Mashack and Gainey so he was a no-show, Omier and the Bahamas kid had plenty of energy the whole game to score and play dirty.

Baylor just doesn't have a lot of very good options other than their starting 5 and maybe 2 backups.

The fatigue factor most certainly got to them. We're better with our starters, but our depth makes it worse. That's a closer game in a regularly scheduled contest. We still might win by 15, but that would be a late push

Disagree. Lanier bombing them in the first half, our pace of play, elite smothering defense and deeper roster of quality players would have made that game play out in nearly the exactly the same way even if Baylor had a week of rest.

Lol They beat us by 12 in the second half. Had they played smarter defense in the first they could have won. did get tired of them talking about tired legs though.

Yeah, I think we were content to just hold the massive lead, not be too aggressive offensively that could lead to Baylor runs, and get out of there with the win. We sure didn't seem to be going for style points in the 2nd.

That's such know nothing BS. The 2nd half might have played out entirely differently had the first half been closer

Whether you like it or not, we beat their asses.

Well yeah, but I'm pretty sure Lanier isn't going 7-7 from 3 most games

7-8 but your point stands. That said, I can definitely see him consistently going 2-3 of 5 from three fairly often, especially in OOC play and against some of the lesser defenses in league play.....his shot is very pure even if I wish his release point was higher.

Thing is, Chaz doesn't have to go 7-8 from 3 in a half to consistently score around 20ppg. That lesser production can be made up for by ZZ shooting closer to his normal average and finding open guys and lobs to bigs. Igor, Dubar, Gainey and our bigs can produce more when Chaz isn't as dominant as he was last night. This team's ceiling is elite....possibly championship level with some luck and getting/staying healthy.

I want to win the SEC again. That will give us at worst a 2 seed in the one and done crapshoot

Barnes slowing down the game, our guys letting off the gas, Igor getting fewer minutes from fouls and terrible officiating were largely responsible for Baylor's better 2nd half. They did play more aggressive and make more shots in the second half but see my point on officiating for a partial explanation on Baylor's improved offensive production.

If you’ve ever been to Bimini then you know how few folks live there and the odds one of them would become a highly ranked bball recruit. The entire island is about the size of a medium sized East Tennessee subdivision

St John didn't look very tired. They absolutely throttled Virginia. Kinda negates that theory.
and played 4 hours earlier and was Baylor tired when the game started we had a 10 point lead 4 minutes into the game. If they are tired in the first 5 minutes in the 2nd game of a tournament this will end quickly for Drew, maybe they don't do pre season conditioning.

To be even more fair, the announcers were pulling for Baylor all night. In addition, the pregame guys were mostly picking Baylor because of their superior talent and size. I guess a 20 point beat down by the VOLS is too much for the National guys to appreciate.
