I wonder when Jimmy Johnson walks in the Superdome

You can watch the replay on YouTube. The pregame between Keith Jackson & Frank Broyles is classic. They talk 10 minutes before Tennessee was even mentioned.

At halftime, Tim Brandt closes the interview with Johnson saying “I still think you’re #1”. When have you heard that?

It was late 3rd Qtr before ole Keith & Frank recognize that Miami wasn’t winning the game.

I was there that night. Still my favorite sports event I’ve ever been to simply for the environment & Tennessee total program dominating the game.
Do you remember Miami fans saying......I wish we could've played someone!!!

I was 18 at the time and my girlfriend’s dad was a Vandy fan. We went to his brother’s house to watch the game and he started talking 💩 to me during the pregame after seeing Miami’s schedule results. He wanted to bet but I was a broke college freshman. We agreed to bet our pants for the ride home.
When the time came to pay up he said he’d take them off if I took them off of him…. Thinking I’d back off and not do it…. I thought about it for a few seconds and said “alright…. Take your shoes off and lay down on the floor”….. I took his pants off in front of his wife, daughter, brother and several others. He counted on me being afraid to do it…. He counted wrong. He drove home in his Fruit of The Looms ….. cold as hell

I could be wrong, but I don't remember any TV or newspaper , locally or nationally that gave the Vols a chance. Most expected Miami to blow the Vols out. If they were overrated, the media certainly didn't think that. I seem to remember an interview with Terry Donahue where he claimed film study revealed that when 1 of their lineman placed his hand on the ground a certain way that play was a run. The hand placed a different way meant it was a pass.
Didn't they all just come out of hte same huddle and playcall ?? Or would this have been for switching plays at the line.

The Miami hype back then never disappointed when they got beat. Not UT, but I remember in the '93 Sugar Bowl when George Teague for bama chased down and caught Lamar Thomas over 50 yards down the field and took the ball from him. Even though it was Bama, it ranks as one of my all-time favorite plays against the miami machine and the announcers that tended their gatorade bottles for them.

The icing on the game for the UT rout was the late game INT run all the way back to the Miami 4. We did get the TD on offense, but it would have been so sweet for the DB to have gotten the pick 6. It was somewhere in the 60+ yard INT return or more I think.
