I would just hope that for once UT does the smart thing and protects the interests of UT and does not put a huge freaking Buy Out clause in the contract.

If he is the hire I hope he is extremely successfull and we beat the crap out of Bama and Florida every year, if not I don't want UT to be holding the bill for another Unemployed coach

The one-year interim route is for when a coach leaves or has to be fired unexpectedly after the normal firing/hiring season, when you generally can't land a good long-term replacement (e.g., Tressel and Petrino).

UT should've done that when Kiffin left instead of hiring Dooley.

Only an idiot would even contemplate going that route in this situation.
