Is Strong going to put people in seats? Beat Florida? Georgia? South Carolina? Bama? Is he going to recover this class?

I don't think so, so why pay for it?

Recover what class? We haven't lost a recruit...YET, nothing to recover, with CDD seeing the writing on the wall didn't seem to bother to recruit a class. CJG and others have this class in hand and IF... IF... CCS does become the HC here, don't be surprised if we don't pull a MUCH better class for 2013.

But then again, I'm talking to a wall.:banghead2:

We have fallen to a point where Coach Chaney should now be considered. He's 1-0 as a head coach and the kids love him. He's a leader that can build a top staff. Give him 6mil for hiring his staff.

Apparently, Strong wants to be the highest paid coach in college football without the record to support it right now. We don't need to go there. We really don't.

A lot of you people are idiots. Charlie Strong is a really, really good football coach.

I don't believe there are "idiots" on these forums. However, there are a lot of majorly different views. The diversity may try the patience, but surely we can recognize there are a LOT of candidates in the USA both from the collegiate ranks as well as the NFL.

You folks need to wake up and see the perception of eliteness is gone. This is a program that has bottomed out.

Chaney is a better option than Strong period.
No way is Strong worth the money being rumored. He is not an elite coach.

Petrino is a better option and a winner.

Tressel is a better option and a winner.

Greg Roman is a better option and would kill with recruits.

Larry Fedora is as good if not a better option.

People who act like Strong would be a crummy, Dooley-esque hire -- and there are a lot of them -- are idiots. Sorry.

You're seriously arguing that Greg Roman, who has never been a head coach and might very well be just a creature of Jim Harbaugh, would be a better hire than a guy who was a dominant SEC DC for 10 years and then built his own program up from garbage to Orange Bowl in three seasons? I'm sorry, that's nonsense.

Really?

No, "wait and see"? You know, your former stance on Dooley.

Dooley didn't have a resume. Never served as a coordinator, one bowl game but an overall losing record in a bad conference. I was "wait and see" on Dooley as long as possible once he was hired because hell, he was the coach of my team, but there was no question at the time that it was a "looking for a diamond in the rough" type hire.

Charlie Strong is not a diamond in the rough. Charlie Strong has a resume.

No one forced you to be "wait and see." You chose that decision. You weren't sure if he would succeed or not.

Now, some people think Strong would be a terrible hire and all of a sudden you are Mr. Clarity.

Strong's resume is ass.

Claiming his Orange Bowl appearance is ass.

Hiring him would be a terrible football decision. Hiring him for 2 plus million and paying his buyout would be an act of idiocy of epic proportions.

Look what OSU and Arkansas were able to pull with a year to prep. The advantages of paying a million or so instead of four to write off a losing season that a 2013 looks like and bad recruiting year would be helpful...

You think recruiting under Strong next year would be bad? Recruiting under Chaney and this staff would be a disaster. The only guy I think that Chaney has snagged this year is Josh Smith.

I have no idea what kind of flip-flop you're trying to accuse me of. When Dooley was hired, I looked him up (because I had no idea who he was, because he didn't have a resume), fumed about it for a couple of days, and then resigned myself to giving him the benefit of the doubt for as long as possible. That's what I'll do this time if I don't like the hire.

I have no idea how anyone who knows anything about football and watched the SEC during the last decade would claim that Charlie Strong's resume is "ass."

2 years in and you were still wait and see on Dooley. No flip flop here, just pointing out you calling someone else's opinion on a coach stupid, stupid.

I don't think I'd put Chaney of Strong. If Strong says no, go after Greg Roman. After that, you're getting into "TN will burn territory."

At that point, give the job to Chaney and go all in for an excellent DC. If it reaches this point, there are serious problems within the AD.
