Idaho, Moscow murders

Don't know where "mass" begins. The murderer here could be both?

It's how the definitions work. Mass implies in groups at the same time (or at least very close together) where serial generally connotes a string of spaced events. Speck killed 8 in one night vs Gacy killing 30+ in separate incidents over a period of years.

It is possible to be both. A serial killer that dealt with groups, like a family annihilator, would certainly qualify.

We should find out in a couple days if this is a serial killer. There are a lot of links to the 13th, so if it is another hit should happen then.

What links to the 13th?
It's just a theory I've seen, but there are other murders in WA and UT that people think could possibly be related. They happened on the 13 of August and October and now this one in Idaho was on the 13th. So some people think it's a serial killer killing on the 13th, and basing his path off of Ted Bundy.

If it wasn't targeted, then why were the downstairs tenants spared?

I think you gotta look at all angles.

Just read that Police have arrested and formally charged someone, Richard Allen in connection with the 2017 murders of two girls in Delphi IN.

They've requested a gag order on the evidence. Not sure what they have but, I hope it isnt just probable cause.

They interviewed him early on, then released him. Then took forever to arrest him again.

Killer got spooked because the cops were in a field near the house.
Or another theory I've seen, there was a guy named Richard Ramirez who would kill people but leave someone alive, it was a way to torture them mentally. Just another way for the killer to feel in control.

The dog was in another room and not with owner which was one of the victims.

This almost has to be a crime of passion. A serial killer could not assume he could kill all of these kids one at a time without waking the others or possibly being confronted by the males. Sounds like there was a murder and then the person decided he had to kill everyone because the others knew he was there. I'd say the police know who it is and are probably following and listening to gain evidence while saying they have no leads to make the killer feel safe. Thats my long shot theory based on watching Columbo.

I disagree with the crime of passion aspect. If that were the case, the police would already have someone. It would be pretty easy for them to filter through texts, calls, and all gps in that area. As brutal as this was, it makes me think this person got a thrill out of the killings and was somewhat methodical.

Crime of passion would have led to mistakes (evidence). Don’t think that’s the case here.

My understanding is that a gun found at his house matched shell casings found at the murder scene. He previously acknowledged seeing the girls that day on the trail. Hopefully they have more evidence they are not releasing to the public.

The main school of thought is the dog knew whoever the person was.
The dog was locked in an empty bedroom.
