If 51% of the American population is on the government's payroll

Can one steal something that is not owned?

That becomes a completely different question, and a good one. If nobody can own land, how can it be stolen? So, in turn, can people force people off land that they were there first? Is that morally wrong? Not sure. I won't claim to know the answers.

But since most Americans believe that you can own land, then yes, Native Americans had land stolen from them, at least that's how it should be thought of from the average American.

How is your family history relevant to US oppression of Native Americans?

Congrats. You didn't have land stolen from the US government. Your family is lucky.

It becomes relevant when you make blanket stereotypical statements.

I read someone complaining about that in another thread... dude said something about how there shouldn't be stereotypes and how each person is unique and should be judged individually...

But obviously you don't believe that or you would judge each and every property owner as an individual and not dismiss personal histories.

The US Govt is a person? Who knew?

Not sure how I judged you in any way. Just made a statement about the property tax.

Not really. Englanders came in, forced Native Americans west, declared "Hey, we are the US" and then forced them west some more, then north, and gave them very small patches of land in the Dakotas after repeatedly lying to them.

Basically stealing land.

Although "owning" land is a weird idea in of itself, but that's a completely different topic.

The US govt is not, but 'englanders' are.

The Pilgrims were from England, no? And a lot of people from England came over here, no?

Okay, for better clarification, Europeans came over and pushed the Native Americans from their home.

Better?

And yes, people from england (englanders) came over and pushed Native Americans west.

Did I say every englander? Uh, no, I did not.

And if someone says that 'black teenagers wearing hoodies often perpetrate crimes', then that would be ok and not stereotyping because the speaker didn't say 'every' one of them?

Went to Comcast to cancel today because my basic bundle service was so expensive I decided I couldn't afford it (switched to $20 ATT internet, no cable TV...only antenna). As I was there, I noticed a guy paying his bill with an EBT card. He could've possibly been on the low income assisted internet provided by Comcast. But it still bugs me.

We really need some welfare reform in this country. In fact, I wouldn't mind if it didn't stretch pass food stamps and healthcare.

Just watched the most retarded segment on the local news about foreigners getting VISAs for high skilled jobs (most IT, tech jobs, possibly at $100k) here in Georgia. It was filled with people saying we need to hire Americans to fill those positions. It then cuts to the unemployment offices with people saying they are overqualified. It then finishes with saying Emory has the highest percentage of foreign workers at 2%.

People are stupid. You hire the most qualified person. And for many businesses it doesn't hurt to have a small percentage of your workforce with international exposure. Especially a place like Emory which is a ****ing private research university where that is desirable.

Just thinking how the course of time would have been changed in this country if we didn't make it very attractive to highly skilled foreigners to work here. It reminded me of a show I watched the other night about a Nazi, Von Braun, and the rest of the V2 German scientist who we gave refuge to work here during WWII.

Exactly.

People are people. I don't care about the color of their skin, their religion, their sexual preferences or their nation of birth. Treat everyone fairly. Foreigners are simply foreigners because of an accident of birth and geography. Unless you are an immigrant YOU didn't do anything to deserve to be an American either, except be born.

Let people hire whomever they want. If I want to hire someone from India to work at my company, SO WHAT! It is my money, I can spend it how I want. You go spend yours how you want and stop trying to run my life! Buncha busybodies. They hate it when Obama wants to tell them to buy insurance, but they are all for telling me who I can and can't hire. Phooey! Or they despise it when some state (Virginia) wants to tell us we have to get an ultrasound before getting an abortion, but they think they should be able to tell me what I have to pay someone. GET OUT OF MY LIFE! Go screw up your own life and leave the rest of us alone!
