Other than Bru and Squirrel, this might be one of the least effective receiver crews we've had in awhile.

I'm definitely looking forward to the additions of Matthews and others next year.

It's wild that even in some of our worst years, we've had some amazing receivers. Can you imagine what Heupel and Co could have done with Justin Hunter, Cordarelle Patterson, and Da'Rick Roger's? This would easily be a 40ppg team.

Correction! How great Hooker was!

It certainly didn’t help losing McCoy. This season isn’t over yet!

Uh give Hyatt the respect he deserves. Most of the TDs Hooker threw to him Hyatt was wide open because he torched the DB. So no correction needed.
I think he was partially invisible…. At times it looked like the DBs couldn’t see him until he was even with them as he ran by them

I don't think some folks realize there are four starters from last year's offense on NFL rosters. Tennessee is a top ten class or two from having that kind of turnover from a talent perspective and it not drastically effect them. I think a 9-3 record before the season started was a realistic expectation and they are on track. I can't remember the last time Tennessee had back to back 9+win seasons.....relax.

Hyatt was a good receiver who was ridiculously fast, but lets be honest. Many of his touchdowns were a result of scheming him wide open.

We just don't have the firepower this year and Milton hasn't been very effective in the intermediate throws.

Also, not sure how much this has to do with our new OC or personnel, but we throw far more WR screens this year as well.

We throw more screens because our WRs are nowhere near last years group especially with Bru gone. Our guys aren’t getting open as consistently. Nobody is torching DBs like Hyatt did.

This day and time the only reason to have a "weak" receiving corp is poor planning, poor evaluation of players, poor recruiting,,, you get my point. With the transfer rules, NIL, to me it boils down to staff problems on the above points. No need with a pass heavy offence ( even though we run a lot) not to be able to find good to great receivers to recruit or buy.... You see it with nearly every game where a team has "upgraded" from the year before in most areas of need by the portal. Just can't see why we have such a poor group of receivers.

Hyatt had a nice season, but it's not as if he did it alone. You have to be honest and admit that any single WR can be managed if he doesn't have other WR's that keep defenses honest. It was that scheme that had defenses hurried and confused, Tillman/McCoy and Hooker all working together that allowed him to break out last season. Hyatt was good but he didn't walk on water.

I think Thornton was supposed to be that guy. He pretty much hasn't lived up to the hype he arrived with, then being hurt the the 2-3 games. It looked like he may have a hand injury, so how much will that affect his ability to catch a Milton rocket when he comes back? Keyton was expected to pick up a lot of the yardage Hyatt had from last year, but he has had a bad case of the drops in critical situations, as well as not catching the ball when it has been delivered right in the hands for what would have been sure touchdowns.

Thornton was expected to provide speed, coming from a proven program, and Keyton was espected to take that next step. Together with Bru and Squirrel we were set up to succeed at WR, but it hasn't worked out. Bru was hurt and Keyton regressed, so guys like Webb and Nimrod have been forced into action.

Not sure why some look at this like a video game where pieces are just plugged in and the machine rolls on. When you're replacing players of the caliber we were and a program is still only a couple of years removed from the garbage dump, there are going to be some ups and downs. Let the season play out and we'll see the growth of guys who will be big factors in the next couple of years as recruiting ramps up as well.

It was combination of Hyatt's speed, Hooker's decision making and ability to get him the ball, and our coaches' ability to scheme WRs open.

We have none of any of that this year.

Add to the fact we changed OCs
