Peyton Manning coaching at Tennessee is one of the biggest pipe dreams I can think of.

That is not a pipedream. That is a wet dream.

When CPF leaves this program is going to be in big trouble, as in Johnny Majors era, unless whomever follows Phil is not only a good coach but a great recruiter as well. For all those who constantly complain about CF, you might ought to give some thought as to how many very good coaches are out there who would be willing to devote as much time criss-crossing the country looking for recruits as CF does. The answer - not many if any at all. One of the main reasons Urban Meyer chose Fla over ND was because he didn't want to have to spend the time traveling across the country recruiting for the Irish as he once did as a ND assistant.

Get rid of Chavis?? Ease Peyton Manning into our HC position?

Did Bammers hack into your user names to plant these ludacris suggestions?!? :banghead:

Our defense has been top notch year in and year out under Chavis!

And for anyone who actually thinks PM will coach one down after he retires, I've got some ocean front property just 3 blocks from Neyland stadium I'd like to talk to you about!

Easy there. Nobody said Chavis needs to leave. But since the VOLS are stinking it up this year on Offense, his defense looks even greater than it normally is. You think NFL teams and/or other schools wont notice it?

As far as Peyton, explain to me what is so ludicrous about it? (I'll pass on your ocean front property).

As far as our coordinadtors and Asst Coaches go it may be time to clean house. Get rid of our tendencies any blind man can predict, and that is on both sides of the ball.

As for Coach Peyton... same reason Steve Young, Troy Aikman, John Elway, and Dan Marino aren't coaches. There are people who were born to PLAY the sport and retire as great players, and there were others born to COACH the sport and retire as great coaches. Peyton will retire as one of the best to ever play quarterback, but not coach it.

I would even bet my ocean front property on it. :D

Agreed... I do not see it happening. UT would probably be better off hiring a successful mid-major coach or something. I don't think anybody else in the staff has what it takes.

:birgits_giggle: :birgits_giggle: :birgits_giggle: Donsarge has been screaming for a change since his buddy, Johnny Majors was dismissed. He wants to see CPF fail because then he can say, see, you should have left Johnny in there.

Apparently Chavis does have some aspirations or UT would not have made him Assistant Head Coach. The question is: Did Chavis aspire to thast position so that he would be in position to take over for Fulmer or did he aspire to that position to make himself appear more qualified for a HC position somewhere else. One thing is certain. he doesn't aspire to be just a DC forever at TN.

Well, I know JC has turned down at least 2 DC positions in the NFL. One, just after the Colts drafted Manning and once, when the Texans were assembling their staff.

I think I've heard him mention that if he was offered a HC position from another school, he would have to look at it but what else could he say on that point. He may wait it out here.
