CDD needs to hire someone with recruiting ties in South Florida or Florida in general. He is fine in Tn, GA. TX, LA, VA, MS, AL but needs someone that can get 3-5 kids per year from Florida or at least be in the ballgame recruiting Florida.

I still have a bad taste from South Florida.Don't forget what happened last year with our Florida recruits:unsure:.

What in his track record makes you think he should be a head coach at a big time program like Tennessee? He didnt exactly tear it up at his last job. I dont really understand this whole Kiffin-Dooley they havnt won but hire them anyway train of thought.

I'm concerned by DD in a couple of ways-
1) How does Willie Mack pack up and leave in the cover of darkness without the HC knowing something was going on ?
2) Some of these recruits (5'10" Safety from TX) don't really seem to be SEC quality. (I know EB, but he was a 5* freak)
3) Coaching hires are tough at this time but we seem to be pulling a lot of guys from lower confs.

I've heard all the "trust DD", "time tables", and "upside" responses, but I'm now beginning to worry a little.

Am I worried for no reason, or does anyone else feel like we are missing something with New Coaches and Recruiting ?
1)I had no idea a HC had to be all knowing. We expect the HC to assemble a great coaching staff, recruit half a class in a few weeks, and know everything at all times going on?
2)Again. A few weeks to build trust with kids after X pretty much destroyed all trust towards the program. Hard to build relationships and trust with parents and recruits in such shorten timetable especially with the general negativity that has surrounded the program lately.
3)You can fill a staff with proven high profile guys but most of those guys are going to move on quickly, kind of like we've had with X's staff. We need continuity for at least a few years and to get some promising young assistants.

As a life long Vol fan, I can't say I'm excited about being the proving ground for unproven coaches, but every coach had to start somewhere. We were left in a tough situation, and these coaches are willing to take on this situation, so the best I can do is offer my full support and I hope the Vol Nation can find it within us to do the same. Our coaches and players need us now more than ever.

i do not want to endure a "wait and see approach." we hired kiffin to get us out of the crapper. he made things worse. now we need a miracle cure. he has 2 years to show true progress, or he is gone IMO. personally, i think he was hired as a temp. coach, which is stupid for two reasons:

1) its just ridiculous. what a waste of a few years.
2) there were better "temp. coaches" out there that had better experience/records/recruiting history that we couldve taken a gamble on, IMO. e.g. T. Willingham, Mike Leach, Tubberville (yes, i know TT hired him fast), maybe a coordinator from the NFL...?

needless to say i have my concerns about this coaching hire. im not about to put away my jersey just yet though...
