If Fulmer is fired?

So LSU's Offense beat us? UHHH I don't think so Jerry! If Ainge played the game we would have won.
I stand by my statement about EA's accuracy.

What ya got?

GA Vol and jake already covered what I would have said. We may have won, but your posts talked about Russell and their offense sucking, though he only made 3 mistakes ... big ones, yes, but he absolutely KILLED US.

And Ainge was terribly inaccurate against S. Carolina.

I'm not convinced another HC is going to come in have a better Football Staff.

Cutcliffe is a good OC/QB coach, and Chavis is a good DC/LB coach. Granted the defense hasnt played well this year, last year the run defense was no. 2 in the country, everyone seems to gloss over that. Brooks has coached a lot of DL prospects into the NFL. They know what it takes to put together a good DL at the SEC level.

I don't think another HC is going to come into UT and assemble a better staff. Granted a few position coaches are unproven, Roper, Adkins, for example; but overall its a good staff. Give them a couple more years together, I think there will be great results. The job Cutcliffe did with Ainge was amazing. Trooper got the WR's going in the right direction.

The gap between UT and the top programs in the SEC has closed some, the coaching has gotten a lot better this year.
i think you hit the nail on the head here. the gap doesn't seem quite as big as it did this time last year...think of how this offensive team would have done in 04...?

not that that matters of course...but if they can improve that offense from last year to this, we have to assume that the offense will be adequate next year, with a hopeful return of the running game. Let's see what they can do with this Defense. I truly think we're going to find out a lot, good or bad, about the player development program at UT with how some of the guys coming back on D do next year. there's talent, if you believe the recruiting rankings etc...let's see if this year's playing time combined with a complete off season translates in to improvement...there's only one way to go as i see it...they can't be worse than this year.

I want Fulmer gone as much as anyone. But I dont they even talk about it unless we lose five games. They probably give him a pass for the defense replacing eight starters, and Ainge being hurt. But how many more passes is he gonna get?

LSU's offense beat us. EA did play. We took him out after a pretty bad start.

had better be a great recruiter plus being a very good coach or the FB program will go back to the Johnny Majors days of the late 1970's. In case some of you don't remember or weren't born then UT was up/down like a yoyo during Majors first 12 years. BTW, Majors's combined record against Ala/UGa/Fla was 6-20. How many of you want to go back to those "good ole days"?

Slightly misleading since most of those losses were against Alabama and we weren't playing GA and Fla every year, but point taken.

Who says we would have to go back to those days? Seems the presupposition is that CPF is a great coach, perhaps unique to the point of being the only man alive that could keep us from being a bottom feeder?

Sorry, I just don;t buy that. And I'm not for firing him. But he has a LOT of work to do to earn my favor at this point.

First of all, I don't want Fulmer fired, but if he was....

I would like to see us go after Saban. The Dolphins are struggling with him at coach so his days in the NFL may be numbered.

I know Saban rubs a lot people the wrong way, but when he was at LSU, he did an amazing job of turning that program around and building them into a national power in a short amount of time.

Being an old Ga Southern fan, I like Johnson. But I can't see UT going to the flexbone anytime soon. Nebraska would be wise to give him a shot once they pull the old "Frank Solich" on Bill Callahan.

They're in the process of reeling off another mid to late season winning streak...
