If Gillispie is gone...

I find it funny and ironic whenever I read a Cat fan suggested Ford. BCG turned Oklahoma St. down before they hired Ford. If UK made that change, OSU would be free to get the guy they wanted after Self.

yeah, it irks me as well. I never claim that all UK fans have common sense. They all scream about 'FORD!!!!" and " PELPHREY" when neither has submitted any resume close to landing the UK job. Ford has done a BIT better, but poor John Pelphrey just screwed the pooch as well as the house cat. He is a sentimental favorite in my heart as well, but the man has no business coaching at UK. At least not yet...

Yeah, Kentucky's pristine history with the NCAA shows that would be a real impediment.

Which is all the more reason that we would shy away from a coach with such things on their resume.

However, nothing has ever really been proven against the guy. And quite honestly, its worth the risk, IMO.

If Kentucky pulls the trigger BG is gone does anyone else see them getting the "right guy" this year or are they going to have to settle and bring in the right guy later?

I just don't see that many high profile coaches that would be available and willing to put up with the over the top expectations. But what do I know I do not follow college basketball too much.

Are Kansas and Pitt the only jobs he would leave Memphis for?
Other than a good NBA job, yes. I'm actually not sure Pitt is still on the list. He wasn't real happy when they passed him over for Jamie Dixon.

You don't like to fall back on UT's 1998 FB NC, dismissing it as ancient history, but yet you choose to bring up crap that happened in the 50's and the 80's? Tsk, tsk.

Nobody's pristine, but UK outwardly does what it can to avoid the appearance of impropriety.

So if this goes down, where do yall predict Billy goes? Seriously.

(figured I'd better add that last little stipulation)

Unless they've already filled their job at that time, Alabama would be foolish not to call him.

Well if thats the case, he only needs to stop by Maryland for a few years and he'd match Bear Bryant's resume of employers.

John Calipari has exactly zero interest in the Kentucky job.

Agreed. I was speaking hypothetically. I do believe he has INTEREST in coaching at Kentucky, I just don't believe he has interest in leaving what he has FOR Kentucky, if that makes sense.

I can assure you that John Calipari has no interest in being the Kentucky coach.

I'm still not convinced UGA is going to pay the going rate for a coach.

The AD has declared that price is no object. I hear he knows it will take $2+ miilion. We will see if he puts his money where his mouth is.

That would still be a difficult decision with the way he's recruiting @ MEMPHIS. Not saying he wouldn't but it would be hard to leave these kids behind .

He smells what the TIGERS are cooking ! :superman:

The big two (maybe 3 if Wall comes) will be gone after next year though.

UGA will do nothing with Damon Evans in charge of the basketball department. The sad thing is that Georgia wouldn't be that bad of a job with the right person involved.

It is amazing how quickly Cat fans seem to forget Hal Mumme and Fran Curci. Maybe UK likes to forget that football is also a part of the athletic program.
