If Hart Fires DD, Should he Wait Till he has a Top-Rate Replacement

NHL is still on strike. Grab Nashville Preds coach. Prob better at D than our own Buddy Hackett D.

Unless the replacement is Oregon's Kelly (who's too smart to leave the no-D PAC 12), there's no suitable college HC or Asst who won't make a deal now just because his team has a shot at the NC.

Of course no great Top 25 HC would leave for a rebuilding job. That's why Bama, Arkansas, and South Carolina went for NFL guys, and most of the other SEC schools went for experienced coordinators.

If Hart is smart, he will have already been in diligent search of a replacement

He already had 5 weeks. Two more coming up. Seven total weeks. He knew this was coming.

I'm suprised there aren't 236 threads/posts wanting to give Sumlin the keys to Knoxville...maybe there are and I just haven't seen them yet

if CDD is going to be fired,i wished that Hart would go ahead and get it done,i don't see any good by waiting for it to happen, go ahead and let the fans know that the search is on,which i would guess is all ready happening,he had better have a plan ready or get one in a hurry

Being a public university, you need to fire Dooley ASAP so you can start a legitimate coaching search. It's really silly to try to hire a new coach while the old coach is still employed, because your hands are tied in so many ways.

I remember when we hired Johnny Majors on January 2, 1977, 24-hours after he won the NC. Unfortunately, the Bear was still in T-Town and it took Johnny 5-7 years to land top recruits. And in those days, LSU, Florida and SCar weren't very good.

Oddly enough, I believe Majors had the top rated recruiting class in the nation his first year at UT.

Actually that's totally wrong my friend.

That's the same exact process that got us laMe and then CDD.

We also have a $5 million buyout to consider and you do NOT put yourself behind the 8 ball at the very beginning of things unless you're a moron like hamilton was.

THINK...What if the big $$$ boosters will NOT put up enough $$$ to go get the true HOMERUN hire that we all want and that we believe we MUST have to get top recruits and CDD was already fired and we own him $5 Million?

As long as CDD is still the coach then AD Hart has the bad option of keeping CDD for 1 more year and saving $5 Million just in case we can't get the type of coach we all want and believe we must have.

If CDD is already fired then we have spent that $5 Million and if AD Hart can't find a really good coach/recruiter for the amount of money we have to offer then he MUST hire whoever he can find that will take the job even if it's a so-called up and comer just exactly like CDD was.

You NEVER quit your job and cut off your income before you already have another job to go work at.

Firing CDD before we have his replacement ready to sign the contract and get busy recruiting would be a very foolish thing to do PLUS when every coach knows that we don't have a coach and we MUST hire someone then that makes coaches and their agents ask for lots more $$$ or controlling power than we might be able to give up so as long as everyone knows that we could save $5 Million and keep CDD for 1 more year if we're forced to go that route we'll actually have more power in our contract negotiations.

Sadly, I don't see our big $$$ boosters coming up with the huge $$$ we all want to get the homerun hire we all want.

Money is too tight, the economy is getting worse and barak oDUMBa was just re-elected so all business people know that healthycare costs are going to keep going up and that taxes on their businesses and their personal income is also going up so donations to everything for the next several years will be going down unfortunately.

This isn't a 1 issue situation my friend.

There's many factors that will be taken into consideration and most of them are bad and getting worse at this time sadly for our Vols.

Almost no one hires a new coach before they fire the old one. Alabama didn't. Michigan didn't. Florida didn't. There are rules. You have to advertise the position. You have to interview candidates. And you can't do that until the job is open.

I am pretty sure Hart has had the feelers out for quite some time, gauged the interest and most likely has a deal already in the works. Firing a coach without having somebody lined up is about as smart as quitting a job without having another one to go to. Hart hasn't even come out and stood up for Dooley, shown any support for him or even humored anybody by saying he is our coach and we are sticking with him. His silence is a sign to me that he has been working on donor money for buyout funding, discussing options with the trustees and pinpointing who they want and how they are going to get him. If all of that hasn't already transpired, we are in for even tougher times than we are currently living in.

Feelers don't mean much unless they touch something. I am sure one or two coaches may be stupid enough to try to please the most vocal and negative segment of our fan base jump into the stew they have reared. IT IS A GIGANTIC RISK FOR ANY COACH TO VENTURE INTO THIS ATMOSPHERE. It appears that posters are not interested in winning but in identifying where they can blast which ever coach seems to be here. It is all about attitude and our fans have the worst attitude of any School in the SEC. We have gotten what we deserve and we will continue to get the same as long as these self centered fans act as if they as 10 years old.

Yeah, Florida and Alabama fans never acted like this when they had Ron Zook and Mike Shula. Good point.

QFT. But this is far from the only SEC fanbase to act like that.
