If I'm Pearl after this game

You can burn all the tapes you want, tonight's loss came down to a lethargic team getting their brains beat in. And they didn't have enough balls to step up and fight back.

Who does that fall back on? The coach who has never won anything when it really mattered.

It's a loss and a bad effort. The players can sulk on it tonight but tomorrow it's time to get ready for Kentucky. I think there are a fair amount of you on here who really get a woody when this team loses. It's much more enjoyable being negative than being reasonable.

You miss the point. Aside from the Purdue giveaway, we've had to say burn the tap because the remainder of the Ls can't be used to teach anything. Ls should be learning experiences. Lack of effort made ours little more than confidence killers.

Screw "burn the tape". I'd put together a highlight tape of Woolridge bricking threes and failing to get rebounds and make him run till he puked between viewings.

Same for Goins with three pointers. And Prince, but you'd have so many bone-headed plays from him that you wouldn't have a lot of time for him to run -- the tape would be too long.

At some point, you have to impose some punishment for stupidity. If it takes running the same play every time down court to Chism, you do it.

He'll, even if it takes playing Josh Bone and Skylar McBee more, you do it. Anything to get these idiots to get the ball to Chism in the post instead of jacking dumbass shots.

Oh, I see. You're the reasonable one. Who knew?

You honestly don't think there's anything to learn from tonight? You don't think Pearl's going to beat it in their heads that if they aren't ready to play on Saturday they're going to get punched in the mouth?

If i were Pearl after this game i'd shorten my bench again. Half these guys have no business playing in the SEC or D1 at all.

Don't think you need to be knocking the role players after this one. This was a poorly played game by all, I don't care how many points they ended up with. If CBP shortens his bench after watching this tape, he will have a lot of players to talk to on the sideline at Rupp.

I hate it when we lose.

But effort like this is not acceptable. And it's a serious issue that needs to be fixed immediately.

There is, but it's about effort. The lack thereof makes everything else moot.

That said, this was our fourth "burn the tape" game. At some point, that's no longer a viable response to a no show.

Why would he get them prepared for KY? He sure as hell didn't have them prepared for Vandy.

What I'm not is so completely over the top hot and cold.

Who is?

I love your measured and steady response to everything, even if it appears that you simply want to fellate our coach.

then I answer every single question asked with "we have to figure out how to get to the FT line thirty ___ or forty ___ times like Vandy (whichever it ends up being)." And I'd talk about that all week.

That's a great idea; much more effective, I think, then throwing a temper tantrum during the game and getting a T.

Agreed that we must focus on ky now but if we don't address the teams shortcomings that contributed to this debacle we will get destroyed at rupp. I'm not being pessimistic but I think its the cold hard facts

I think you're overanalyzing. Not a great effort tonight by any means but it's just 1 game in a long season. They've had plenty of nights where they've given great effort. ALL (well almost) all teams have games like this during a long season. It happens, then you move on.
Posters on here want there to be something "wrong" and want to "change" things and hang someone after a loss like this. It's all knee-jerk and unecessary.

Yeah, that was necessary. Expected better from you, shouldn't have.

Mr Woolridge would be on the bench; start Hall. Start Goins. Start the car.......

Knee jerk? It's always the same crap. Lack of effort, no halfcourt game. No focus. Don't assume our wins aren't littered with the same crap. We just happen to play very few decent teams.

If I am Coach Pearl I admit to the fan base I am not the basketball messiah that so many of them think I am, that my son is terrible and I am truly guilty of nepotism, and that I will be encouraging Scotty Hopson to enter the NBA Draft so Tennessee no longer has to deal with him.

If im Pearl I sit Scotty Hopsons butt down and let him sit for the whole game because he is the laziest player I have ever watched play the game.He is worse than Vincent Yarbrough. But hey, everybody makes mistakes just like they did when they said Crompton was a five star Vincent and Scotty are no McDonalds AA either...

A game that has never mattered? A guy who has a national title? Oh, that's right, it doesn't count because it was in D-II. Every "big win" is discounted in some way.

I just wonder why, if the only important games are in March, why you all get so critical of games before then? If a win in February does not "really matter", then why does a loss?

If you think it's acceptable to show up like this against another top 25 team that you are fighting in the conference standings, then something is wrong.

I can guarantee you Bill Self didn't just say "oh well, it happens" when we beat Kansas.

So you believe the effort problem was just a one game issue?
