If Manning is the Sheriff, what is Brady?

Brady has by far had the better supporting cast, including a coach that will go down as Top 5 of all time.

Manning has beaten Brady in the playoffs 3 in a row, now has a 3-1 record vs. him in the AFC title game, and Brady's last win vs. Manning in the playoffs came in 2004.

A superbowl is a team thing, but I honestly believe if Manning gets his second this year, there will be very little argument over who was the best of our generation.

Pretty sure the Patriots advanced to super bowl 49 by beating the Broncos...no? Yes

Ed Reed said something similar on The Rich Eisen Show this morning. He didn't seem to want to take sides, but he said Brady had the better team around him.

I think that's quite silly; as if Manning had chumps around him all his career.

Coach yes; supporting cast? I think that's some revisionist history. The Patriots have been known to be a team that can take castoffs from other teams and make them awesome. To say he's had the better supporting cast "by far" is a huge stretch, because as I said earlier, you're acting like Manning was surrounded by chumps. That's quite laughable.

And as far as your last point, yes, there will still be an argument. You basically contradict yourself; in one sentence you say it's a team thing but that if Manning wins it makes him the clear best of the generation, even though Brady will still have 2 more rings?

Indy (and they are my team), never had any D around Peyton, they only picked 3 players on defense his whole time there worth a darn. O Line meh, had some ok talent, skill players thats where they were superior to the Pats. But in the playoffs defense wins. Peyton at what 39 years old has a superior defense and he is just a good QB goes to the SB, I can't help but wonder if Indy had ever put any thing close to what Denver has around Peyton, how many SBs would he/Indy have. My guess at least 3.

Could the NE QB have went to 4 super bowls with 4 different head coaches, I say no way. He has the best HC ever, no way he goes to SB with Jim Caldwell or John Fox as HC

Peyton has had better OLs and WRs.

I don't understand why a praise for Brady has to be a dig at Manning and vice versa. They are both the best QB of their generation. You cannot argue with Brady's Super Bowl/Playoff success. From day one, he's been one of the best. Just like Peyton. Belicheck is a great coach. Defensive especially. But Dungy was no slouch either. Name a running back Brady had that was better than James? Randy Moss was great, but Pats had him late in his career. Was he better than Reggie Wayne or Marvin Harrison?

Both are great. Both will be in the HOF.

Stop being logical.

Up until Sunday, the national perception had Brady 1 Manning 2. I think it's 50/50 now. Brady definitely had some better teams but he also performed better in the clutch

Manning is pretty good in the "clutch". Manning has more 4th quarter comebacks than any QB in the history of the NFL. More than Brady, Marino, Montana and Elway.
