If Mike Hamilton were still AD, Gruden would probably be in orange today.

The boosters would have arranged the deal, Hamilton would jumped at the chance to sign Gruden, the presser would have gone down as planned, and BAM- Herbstreit, Fowler, and Corso would be in Atlanta talking about how there were two winners in the SEC today.

THAT, right there, is the definition of irony to me.
False.

My point wasn't that Hamilton was a good AD. Good grief. I don't think anyone, anywhere, would try to make that case.

My point was that Hamilton, unlike Hart, would probably not have put up a fight if the big money guys had gone off and laid the groundwork for Gruden. That's the irony of it, situational irony anyway- we were elated when Hamilton got sent packing, relatively thrilled (at least, I think most of us were) when a real AD with experience was hired, but now we're somewhat pissed that our experienced AD made a power play and shot down Grudenmania. Be careful what you wish for, and all that. I find that ironic.

Yes, because Hart fought the boosters. Right.

Thank you! I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. I really don't post on here, but that was the best thing I have heard in a long time.

OP, Let me tell you something. I know for a fact that Hart is Haslam's man. I have first hand information (piss and moan if you like) that Haslam picked Hart and has he is being allowed to rework the AD from top to bottom. Things are changing on the Hill.
No one really knows what went down, and the reason why is you don't have a bunch of people leaking out legit and not so legit info anymore.
Hart is tight lipped.
Hamilton was a moron and Gruden wouldn't have sat down in the same room with that clown.

People need to realize that this whole "boosters had
Gruden and Hart screwed it up" story-line is based on rumors on a message board. You are giving anonymous message board posters with self proclaimed sources WAY too much credit.

Maybe Gruden just didn't want to come here in the first place.

Let's keep it real. Hammy did improve Tennessee from a facilities standpoint. However, his poor hires are giving Steve Spurrier, Bama fans, and Florida and Georgia fans plenty of material for jokes.

You seem to have forgotten the last two coaching searches involving Hamilton. Still no Gruden.

hamilton is the reason the vols are in the crapper.

just one example: he gave a coach who couldn't cut it in the bush leagues a five million dollar payoff for proving he couldn't hack it in the big leagues either.
