If Newt's going to run...

You have to remember W got pretty lucky with the 2000 election. He needed the supreme court to decide his victory. He actually lost the popular vote, which is very scary considering who he was running against. We have had terrible choices the past two elections. This one should be much better in the general election.
He was running against a cardboard man with a penchant for lunacy, but we were in the midst of an unprecendented economic high tide, which would presumably assure re-election.

IMO this country is not ready to elect someone who has been married 3 times as president. Particularly when their last marriage ended because they were having an affair with a younger woman. That effectively eliminates Giulani and Gingrich.

I've never understood why Gingrich gets so much media attention. IMO he's unelectable. Does no one remember why he resigned as speaker of the house? He was basicly exposed as having an affair, while the impeachment of Bill Clinton was ongoing. He resigned, divorced his wife, and then remarried.

The Republicans would make a grave error in nominating Newt. I don't even think Hillary could lose to him.

it's becoming apparent that no matter who the eventual contenders are, I'm not going to vote for any major party candidate in 2008.

I think Newt would be a good choice for VP or perhaps Secretary of State in a Fred Thompson administration.
