If not Gruden, then who?

Patterson is..Peterson definitely not.

I like Patterson! An analyst on 104.5 said today that he probably wouldn't leave since he has invested so much into TCU and quote "wouldn't want to leave the fruits of his labor". Could be wrong but I can see where that would be hard. They said the same thing about Peterson, but also added that he "hates the spotlight" and likes being at a smaller school with less media attention.

Im sure they are right but could see Patterson bailing before Peterson.

Mora would be my 2nd choice

I like Mora, but him leaving UCLA to come here would be the equivalent of Kiffen leaving UT. Don't think he will bail on them this early. If he did, it would have to be for a major school that has a great recruiting territory like Texas or Florida. But I don't think he would bail for UT.

I've been saying this about Mora for the past week. I hope he puts Kiffin out of a job next season

Dear Vols,

Stay away from anything from the Patriots. It's all Bellichek and Tom Brady. It can't be duplicated.

Sincerely,

Kansas City Chiefs fans

I think the same can now be applied for Saban and Company.

Is there another coach as critical as James Franklin with the desire to eradicate "tough" losses from their dictionary??? Can I have that coach? Where is he? Does he exist? Can we buy him?

No I mean literally close down, tear down Neyland, etc. There is no awe inspiring coach after you get past the big four (Gruden, Patterson, Peterson, Stoops) that would united the fan base nor turn around the ship.

Dude, don't be such an over-dramatic vag. Jon Gruden is not a god.

Funny, though, you'd never know the difference from the worship he receives here. Y'all need to grow a pair and stop pinning your hopes on one man, because that will only set you up for disappointment and failure.

For ****'s sake.

I think Vandy hit a home run with Franklin. Surprised he's not at the topic of many HC discussions. If he didn't coach at Vandy I think UT fans might be more open to it. Arkansas on the other hand needs to be banging on his door! Vandy beat UT, Auburn, Missouri, Ole Miss, Kentucky and almost beat South Carolina. Anyone who can get Vandy to an 8 win season and beat those teams in the same season is a proven winner, hands down.

I would be happy with any of those four, not necessarily Gruden.

Seems like a TON of UT fans are asking for a Jon Gruden Christmas. In fact, I'd venture to say that he is the only thing on the Christmas list for the majority of Vol fans. But what if he's not under the tree this year? Even worse, let's also assume that Patrino gets no chance due to his recent debacle, and that Mora Jr, Shaw, Patterson, and Peterson are not leaving their respective schools. Who would you go after?

Stoops, Fisher, Golden, Strong, B. Jones, Hudspeth, Briles, or someone else?

jmo, I think Hart's 3 favorties are Fisher, Strong and Golden. none of three may make the move but I think they top list.

I still think Gruden ends up in the NFL

I think those three are the most proven names that are most likely to leave where they are. But Strong and Fisher's appeal has certainly dropped since they lost their last game. Strong losing to Connecticut definitely didn't help his case. Mullen I think would have been a consideration, but after his team got crushed by Ole Miss, I think he's probably on the 5th or 6th list.

IMO, if we miss on Gruden, we will drop to the bottom feeders after we flounder around on our short list.

Stoops, Mora and Fisher are staying put.

Fedora isn't bolting after year one.

I believe Strong when he says he's staying.

Tressel, Butch Davis, and Petrino are off the board for UT it seems.

Smart hasn't been a head coach.

That leaves us with guys like Golden, Jones, and Cut.

I think this is the most realistic unless we are able to get some NFL coordinator. Also, cross Cut off the list. He just signed an extension and is staying put.

Cut would crawl across hot coals to Knoxville if we offered the job. That said, I hope it never comes to that.

I think people just assume this. Yes, UT is clearly a superior job where he could make loads more money, but Cut is not trying to do that. He knows the expectations of the fan base and knows he can't deliver. It is much better for his health & family to stay at Duke where 5-6 win seasons are rewarded.

Didn't he turn it down before we hired Dooley?

He was told he'd have to upgrade his staff if he came here and he wasn't willing to do that. We parted ways at that point.

Butch Davis restored Miami when they were at the bottom and corrupt. He made UNC a prominent program that chicken **** hammy and Dooley wanted no part of. UNC threw Davis under the bus and then backed it over him. Looks like the NCAA will make it a point to clear Davis' name of any wrong doing. This guy is a GREAT coach and I would say the closest thing to Saban out there. At a prominent program he will win big.

The last time we needed a head coach, he said he was content at Duke...

i believe he has said the same thing this year as well. Duke is a basketball school.. They have relatively low expectations for football. Just getting to a bowl game is an accomplishment. He will have a job there for as long as he wants it.

Stoops is a no. Fisher maybe and we would be just as well off without a HC as to have Golden
