Okay, so the common board sentiment is CBP is a terrific marketer, but not so much of an X's and O's guy.

With that in mind and because of the improved national perception of our program, who would be willing to come here as a replacement?

Or better asked, would other coaches now be more interested in this job?

You cant base a coaches career off of one game. Pearl has done wonderful things for this program. How soon everyone forgets about him bringing us to a number one ranking. We'll just have to see how the season pans out.

How long to you celebrate that 24 hours?

48 hours at #1 does not a success make. I think he has done terrific things for our program on a national level.

But clearly player development isn't occurring. Clearly, our half court offense is little more than an AND1 mix tape, and clearly we have yet to advance to an Elite 8.

Again, just curious what type of coach would NOW be interested in UT.

Even though they're sarcastic, these "the sky is falling" postings are getting extremely obnoxious.

Apparently you missed yesterday, it was a dead horse about halftime of yesterdays game. We are fortunate to have Bruce Pearl and it irritates me when so many people on here expect to win every game that Tennessee athletics play. I am orange through and through but where this program was, and where it is now is a huge difference. The Calhouns aren't coming to Knoxville regardless to how many 0's are on the check. Bruce has done plenty to deserve time to build a foundation. 4 NCAA appearances in a row would have been a beautiful thing under Peterson, well I would've liked 4 NIT invites. People need to chill about Pearl he is a fine coach, Chism should just quit.

There is a big difference between a loss to a good team and a 22 point loss to a bad team who owned every facet of that game. Get over this rationalization crap.

You are only bolstering my initial question's validity with this thread. I'm not Chicken Little Incarnate, I'm just looking for interesting alternatives.

Looks like you secretly wish we had Calhoun. Thanks for finally answering the thread.

EDIT- I don't like typos. FMP!

If Pearl does leave, which won't happen for a long time, than I have no idea who you could get. He would have to be a heck of a coach because no way could this program risk something on an unproven coach.

how long did that number 1 ranking last and how did we do in the tournament that season? Elite 8? Final 4? Definitely worthy of that #1 ranking. It's not one game, some of us gave Bruce a chance and he is proving all his detractors right in the fact that he is an average coach at best(as evident from last night). He also lacks motivation apparently and it shows from our flat play the majority of the season.

Coach Pearl has built the program to better than it was, but if he can't take us further, do we owe it to him to settle for the level we've achieved? Maybe I'm misguided, but I would love to see UT reach a championship level. We aren't there, and I'm not convinced that Pearl can get us there. IMHO, as great a recruiter as Pearl is, he doesn't seem to be able to get the most from his players. Where is the development?

This isn't about one game. I look at Hopson, a supposed one and done, and I wonder why he doesn't appear to be growing as a player? All the things Tyler was supposed to work on to make it to the NBA, where's it at? Some people want to blame the kids, but it's the coach's job to teach these kids. Every time we have a bad game, I see some fans blaming the kids, saying Pearl wasn't taking the shots, the kids were. One game I could see saying that, but multiple games? If the kids keep making the same mistakes, they obviously aren't being taught. That falls on Pearl.

I hate rationality and please don't use it again.
