Who do you think would win NC? I honestly think Texas A & M would win it all provided they made it into the top 4 teams. They are playing the best football of any team in the last half of this season. They have already shown they can beat Bama and gave Florida and LSU all they wanted but lost to them early in the season. I think they would handle Notre Dame and dispose of them as well. I fully expect Texas A & M to be leading the charge for a NC in 2013 as well.

I am very impressed with the job Sumlin has done this year. Look at what he has done in his first year. If Hart pulls us in a good coach then we could see success in the same short period that A & M has enjoyed. The future is bright and it is only up from here Vol fans and hope to see our Vols in the playoff picture in the next couple of years.. We get a good coach that can do something with the talent we have and pull in a few stud recruits and the sky is the limit. We won the first BCS championship when it started so could history repeat itself and we win the first year of the Playoffs?? Hey, it could happen.. :):)

I'm not sure aTm would make it...although they would be a scary foe! If there was a playoff it would be:

ND
Bama/UGA winner
UF
Oregon

aTm is good. They didn't learn what SEC meant quick enough. It wasn't quick enough to be in a 4 team playoff though.

Bama can pretty much beat anybody. Texas a+m would get whooped in a rematch.
Top 4
Bama
Georgia
Florida
LSU
not even close

I'm sorry but put aside your SEC bias and just admit that Oregon deserves to be in this over LSU.

Honestly, screw Florida too. I don't think they're that great. They've almost lost so many games this year, including Sun Belt and FCS teams.

well, florida may fail the eye test......but, florida has the best resume of any team in the country and it's not close.

florida has beaten 4 teams in the top 15. the only other school in the top 10 of the bcs standings to beat more than 1 team in the top 15 is stanford (oregon and oregon state)

edit: notre dame has beaten stanford and oklahoma

If preseason polls were not so determinative, UF would be number 2 over Bama. Much better resume with wins over LSU, at Texas A&M, at FSU, amongst others. The preseason poll is the worst thing in college football.

Given the fact that Florida has 4 great wins and only lost to Georgia on a neutral field because they had 6 turnovers, I think they have a very good argument for best team in the country. My pick is Bama however.

i definitely think Oregon would advance to the finale. I'm basing that solely on their cheer squad.

Oregon deserves it more than LSU...I agree with you.

UF was sleepwalking against Mizzou, ULL and Jax State, no question. But wins against TAMU, LSU, SCarolina and FSU more than make up for it. You can't penalize us for what didn't happen as opposed to what did.

1. Bama
2. UGA
3. UF
4. Oregon

Bama beats Oregon
UF gets revenge against UGA

Bama beats UF for the title

shouldn't the Bama/UGA championship game loser already be eliminated though?

the playoffs would be taking place after conference championship games, which presumably would still factor/reflect into the overall record

Or was this thread all just a "who do you all think are really the four best NCAAF teams...and number them"?

Here is what will make the playoff system just as bad, if not worse, as the BCS crap we have today.

We are saying that UF and Oregon would be two of the four teams. ND would be the obvious third team in the dance.

Why is it that only the winner of Bama and UGA in the SECCG go to the Final Four. So you will punish one of those two teams for playing a conference championship game and reward two teams that did not play in a conference championship.

Currently Bama is #2 while UGA is #3. Where is the incentive in playing for an SECCG. You risk missing out on the chance to play for a NC game because other teams that do not make it to a conference championship will jump you in the rankings. Just not play a conference championship at all and let ND, Bama, UGA, and UF play for the NC with the playoff system.

I think we will have a bigger problem with the playoff system. My biggest beef is that we are now to the point where playing for a conference championship does not mean a whole lot.

.

I understand this argument. But you are playing a team in the conference championship that will be in the playoff. If you can't beat them in the conference do you really think you should get a rematch?

I like the idea of a 12 or 16 team playoff taking conference champions and at larges. In that format GA would definatly be an at large.

Dont have time to type a long response, but i dont think anyone anticipated so many teams with 2 or less losses not competing for a conference title. 4 sec teams are 10-2 or better and not in a conferemce title game.

The league schedules are not balanced and there is your argument.

I'll just take the top 10 and go down the line for TAMU W's and L's as it sits right now.

ND - W (Wouldnt be pretty, but....)
BAMA - L (Saban, rematch, more film on JFF)
UGA - W (Sorry dawg fan, we'd truck you)
UF - W (They're not as good now, and we're not as immature as we were)
OREGON - L (They do what we do and have done so for longer)
KSTATE -W (hahahahahahaha.........hahaha....)
LSU - L (I dont know why for sure, but I just think they'd beat us again)
STANFORD - W (Wouldnt be pretty, but....)

SCAR - W (Maybe the 2nd most interesting matchup to speculate about imo.)

as for 11-25, we'd whip most of them by double digits. So that leaves it as us 4th behind Bama, Oregon, and LSU.

unless you, like, would lose to other teams in this completely hypothetical situation.

I think everyone thinks they'd beat Florida if they played them again.

Amazing how a team that plays pretty is always perceived to be better than a team that plays ugly
