If Saban can start Tua for the first time in a championship game….

Then we can start Nico next week. The SEC is down this year and still winnable (even with our team). Saban is already trying different qb’s and at this rate they will figure out their qb situation before we do. START NICO NOW!
That was a typical Florida awakening game, where they literally become unstoppable.

but we have too many Veterans that cab run for crap.
Hadden runs 4.7
Walker runs 4.7
McCulough also slow.
McDonland slow

too many NAF on starting in the defense.
Elijah Herring is not ready

More realistic that we do it after SC when we have the bye.

He shouldn’t play until Mays returns.

What if Nico stinks it up?

Nico might be the better QB at some point but playing him is not going to magically fix this team.
Oline sucks. When Joe threw the pic if they had blocked that mack truck that play would have been a TD.
Defense sucked....
Nico ain't the magic bullet
Honestly it would be a good time to make the switch. We aren’t winning the east with Milton so it’s time to build for the future. I have no idea what CJH is thinking about doing but it seems like the right time for the move if Nico looks at all ready in practice

Not many true freshman QB tear it up. Remember ty Simpson the next qb everyone wanted. Well he sure looked great against the USF team yesterday in his second year. Without better oline play it doesn't matter who they trot out at QB.

Joe absolutely cannot throw on the run. Nico can throw accurately on the run. If the o line can't block move the pocket and sprint him out. It will protect him form injury, and he will be effective in moving us down the field.

I was at the game last night. I had never been to an away SEC game. I get why people think you protect a young guy from that environment. At the same time it doesn’t matter when you throw them in there. They will either be ready or they won’t. Joe just isn’t going to win those kind of games for us. He’s not the worst and I get be loyal to the guy to a degree. But he just isn’t going to run this offense at a high level.

Ah yes because our countless program history of using the bye to break in a new QB conveniently has always worked out for us…..

If there is a switch, it needs to be now and never look back. Let Nico have 3 warm up games before the bye heading to Bama.

I disagree. Oline play wasn’t perfect last year and a competent qb, whom a coaching staff and team believe in, won a lot of games. When play calling is hamstrung by the qb’s abilities, the entire team suffers.

No argument there
I would not have started Nico at Florida at night either.
I’d had hope we’d see the Clemson game Milton to buy more time for Nico but clearly that guy doesn’t exist consistently. Florida is over and the next real test is at home Vs SoCar with a glorified practice game before that. It seems like the right time to make the move…..if Nico is healthy. I have no reason to think he isn’t. Hypel is extremely competitive so I’m sure he’s thinking about how best to win the rest of the way.
Will he make the move? No idea

We all heard the wrist injury rumors. Nico not being available is the only reason I would think you don’t make the change

Joe shouldn't have lobbed that pass up. Take the sack.

Well he looked the best of any of the 3 they played. At this point IDC if Nico makes some freshman mistakes like Casey/Ainge/Bray did. Let’s try something if he’s healthy.

Or you’re a coach who doesn’t panic and swap QB’s just because of a loss that was largely a result of the defense failing and questionable third party aka the refs.

Milton played about as I expected him to.

Had the OL and defense played like I thought they would, this game is an easy win. Clearly the defense is a fraud and the OL is just that bad without Mays.

Hooker could hide a lot of the issues if he was playing. The problem is you're probably only getting 2021 Hooker out of any QB. He was that special. So this team with very good QB play is probably still only as good as 2021.

Did you watch the press conference?
That dude is competitive on a whole different level. Man he’s pissed. But you’re right he’s also ice cold when it comes to panic. I’m glad we have him (especially after what I said about his hiring) I think we’re in good shape with him as coach long term. I have no idea what he’s going to do in the short term.

I think there is ample reason to turn Nico loose that has zero to do with Milton. I also think Heupel isn’t the best communicator as to why he would make the change to the future aka Nico without causing issues. Simply put, do you think Heupel is prepared to take criticisms when Nico has games we lose simply because of inexperience? I don’t. I do see him being the rip the bandaid off type coach

Not to the coaching staff. they know exactly where he is at for being ready to play SEC football. It is true, unknown to fans
They have no clue until he is put into a sec game and is punched in that mouth. No one is known until the going gets tough.
