If Scout.com had been right...

He was the top recruit. But he wasn't coached well and Dooley knew after year one he needed a kicker. He failed to recruit one for the next two seasons. So this falls right back on why we don't need him coaching the Vols

U do realize that making an uninformed comment like this (that many on here make) makes your opinion on Dooley pretty much worthless...right??? Shows that people like you don't look at the whole, but just a part of the situation. And the Dooley supporters are the ones accused of having blinders on. Smh

He signed Bullock out of Knoxville last yr. He got his leg broken back in fall camp. The guy has had to fill in spots all throughout a depleted roster with a limit on how many he can sign a yr. Not hard to nderstand why the talent on the team still looks thin.

PSU's kicker turned it around this year. His name is Feakin. PSU has won a couple of games now on his freakin foot after he missed 4 fg and a pat in one game earlier in the season. PSU's coach has done a great job, and ours has not.

If Scout.com had been right about Michael Palardy being the top kicker when he signed with Tennessee, then CDD's seat would not be white hot right now.

I could imagine a great kicker would have saved at least 5 or 6 games for UT over the last 3 years.

Including the loss against Mizzu on Saturday.

It's no longer hot. He's done and cooked

You think Bill O'Brien all of sudden showed him how to kick? Hell no. Feakin figured it out hisself what he was doing wrong.

Rivals had him #1 as well. Hard to get better without anyone coaching you.

And if Dooley was a better coach, recruiter and talent scout he would have some DBs that could cover.

I think OP point is, if Dooley had used maybe rivals or 247 as his recruiting service he wouldn't have got confused and recruited a better kicker. Shame on Dooley for listening to Scout

Actually, he did recruit one. He broke his leg last summer though during workouts.

Palardy has an inside-out kicking motion that works well for soccer, very unreliable for kicking a football. It should have been corrected fall camp of his freshman year.

A defense a little less like a sieve could have also saved his job

I agree. But it does not make sence. Why would a coach on the hot seat go after a first time DC that is a LBs coach at Alabama? I have heard the story on Steele. But you could of found someone to run a 4-3 defense that is a proven DC.

Kiffin recruited him and he was commited by the time Dooley was hired -- UF wanted him bad -- should have let them have him

but the D wasn't a sieve last year...the kicking game has consistently sucked all 3 years.

Well the kicking game is always important, but as I said before, I wonder what kind of year Tennessee would have had if Wilcox hadn't left or if they had at least got someone competent to run the defense.
