If UT is not going to hire coaches and Athletic Directors who care about Tennessee .. Then close up shop.. Look at the football team NOW.. A coach came in here talking about how great a opportunity for a FB player to come to UT. And now his recruiting is what 3rd in the Nation. Gonzo is just passing through making a fortune as he plays coach .. He is not a SEC level coach or he just can not teach players how to be winners. Gonzo needs to go. :peace2: How can anybody think Gonzo is what UT men' BB needs... Their disgusting to watch .. Watching them play FLA was a joke .. UT just paid Gonzo to get schooled at FLA.:peace2::whistling:

I have given Conzo an ok because I think he is a man of great character, but I am questioning his coaching now.

Martin is not a good coach. I think he has the potential and will be decent one day but he's not ready for a program like Tennessee. We deserve better as fans and he deserves time at a program with less expectations to grow as a coach. The experiment failed but you can't blame Hamilton because no one decent was taking this job at the time Martin was hired. It's silly to fault anyone for giving him a chance. It's up to Hart to get someone to hype this program up again that knows how to coach.

Hamilton is the sole person to blame. His incompetent DA got us in the shape we are in today in both basketball and football. We, excuse me Hamilton, took a flyer on a guy who hasn't proven jack s*** in the NCAA as a head coach, while in the same time passing on coaches who have made the tournament either in the last three years or at some point in their head coaching careers. Hamilton is a moron and should never be allowed near UT ever again. He's the gift that keeps on giving, and his handling of the Pearl situation was amateur at best. His replacement in Zo couldn't hold Pearl's jockstrap, and the only thing keeping Zo afloat is the incompetent/in denial UT fans who think he's doing/has done a good job.

Seriously? What coaches did UT pass up to hire Martin? I know there are rumors that Marshall interviewed but is that even legit? I've seen nothing that says it Is. Do you not remember the mess this program was in when Bruce was fired? Any coach with credibility would have been dumb to take this job with possible sanctions or the unknown looming over our program. We was never hiring someone with credibility and to think otherwise is silly. In situations like that, you gamble. It's unfortunate it failed but I see no other possible scenarios but to gamble on someone. If you look at Martin before he takes the UT job, he looks promising. Great college career, made it to the pros, coached and played under a legend, beat cancer, strong midwest ties to recruiting hotbeds like st louis ect... and made a huge improvement in msu. If your gonna take a chance on someone, he sounds good to me. But its failed and time to move on. Hamilton deserves no blame for this.

Hamilton deserves all the blame he gets. I'm beginning to to get the same feeling about our current AD. UT sports is in the sheeter right now.

I don't agree. I think somebody has to take the fall and he gets a lot of the blame when he shouldn't. Hart hasn't had time to show us if he cares or not. No AD tells Martin to pack before the seasons over...that would be silly on our part

I know you're frustrated, but Gonzo is 3-1 against Billy D.

The Captain of the ship is to blame if the ship runs aground. Not seeing much life in the UT athletics, men or women which Hart now runs (I'll give you softball if you want).

Not to mention, texas fans wanted Barnes fired mid season.....he's beat three straight ranked teams. There's a reason you let the season play out. Basketball allows more errors than football and teams that barely get in have legit chances. See nova in 85

If this BB team passes your eye test, you're entitled to you belief. I just don't see where this team gives me hope now, in March, or next year. This is the most experienced team in the SEC. Three years in basketball is plenty of time to put your stamp on it and show what you have.

Rick Barnes also went to the NCAA tourney 17 straight years, has multiple Elite 8 appearances, a Final 4 on his resume and consistently brings in top 10 classes. He's earned the chance to right the ship. Plus, Texas fans are more arrogant than us and expect Final 4's every year, despite a basketball tradition that doesn't span much outside of Barnes tenure.

While Hammy's stench keeps oozing on our doorstep, the real fly-ridden turd at UT is Butt Cheek. He needs to be flushed.

How would you know that he is a man of character? Do you know him personally or do you just fantasize about another mans personal life ?

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but Rick Byrd would have been a much better hire.

Greg Marshall would have been a great hire too, and he desperately wanted to come here. He wanted to come here when Buzz was fired as well. Hamilton in football passed on Kevin Sumlin who was respectfully 8-5 and 10-4 in 2008 and 2009 at Houston for Dooley who went 5-7, 8-5, and 4-8 at LA Tech. If anyone is trying to argue that Hamilton isn't to blame then you either don't fully understand the situation or you don't want to believe that one man can single handling destroy a University's athletics. Cheek and Hart aren't any better either. My best friend who's like second family to me has a person in their family who sits through hiring processes at UT. He won't say much about it but the two things I've specifically heard about Hart and Cheek is that neither of them know how to make UT apealing, and both are trying to make UT more then what it should be in the academic department. I know for a fact that Charlie Strong was very interested in taking the job, so much that talk was he was our next coach until Hart and Cheek ruined the negotiating process with him. Strong's biggest concern at UT was recruiting guys that could qualify if we continued to press the hard, unnecessary academic standard for athletes down the road.

Guys, save your energy. UT will never be good at basketball. We can't even field a respectable football team. Our athletic department needs to be gutted, including Hart. Once we go 5-7 again next year with no bowl again, maybe people will wake up. For the time being, just save your energy and go hiking or spend time with your kids. UT athletics isn't worth your time in its current state.

That's a scary thought.
