If this bowl season has told us anything..

No UT and UG were both 10-2 before sec champ game. My point earlier was the loser of the sec champ game shouldn't be penalized for losing just because we played an extra game

UT was 9-3 in 2007 prior to the conference championship game. The losses came to Cal, UF, and Alabama.

Uga wasted its best chance to beat bama. Dawgs were on the rise during the last half of the season. Bama had spotted aTm 20 points and still nearly won the game after an emotional win with lsu. Bama peaked earlier in the year and has to play much better to beat notre dame. Nebraska also peaked earlier in the year as evidenced by the beat down they got from Wisconsin who only won like 7 games all year long. Uga gave up 18 straight points to the cornhuskers and had to rally to pull it out in the end. Uga got a much bigger scare than you are saying. The game was much closer than the score. Uga hasnt won a NC in over 30 years and havent really been close. Uga only won that one because of Herschel Walker.

I'm sure there's a point to this but I'm not sure what it is.

if this bowl season teaches us anything, its that we would of got stomped on the nat'l stage this bowl season....almost a blessing we didnt win 6 games. Now we can fly underthe radar for a few months and sneak up on teams......best case scenerio VN

I wouldn't call a crappy bowl game in December "the national stage"!

There are really only 2 games on the national stage...The Rose Bowl and NC game. The BCS games do ok in the ratings but the others pretty much suck in terms of ratings.

Quick question, who won the Beef O' Brady's Bowl? Exactly.

USCe didn't just lose Lattimore. TN took him out.....possibly for good. Not only did we have a really crappy season, we may have cost one of the best (if not the best) running backs in the country an NFL career.

Please explain. Are you suggesting the Vols purposely caused harm to Lattimore? I feel awful for the kid, but injuries happen. The Vols have no reason to feel guilty. They've shown they sympathize with him, as do most of us, but in no way should they feel guilty he got injured playing against us.

Muschamp on the hot seat? Yeah, I don't think so.

What this bowl season told me is... They need to do away with conference tie ins all together and put the most appealing match ups together.. The current bowl structure sucks.. Too many bowls also.. 6-6 teams really don't deserve to be there.. 7 wins should be a minimum requirement in a 12 game schedule....

What this bowl season told me, the upcoming playoff system is going to be interesting. Imagine Oregon facing the winner of the Bama/ND game.

A team gunning for an injury doesn't send half the roster onto the field to mourn for him in real time

Whoa! I never once said anything about it being done on purpose. I said that's just the really Sh*** kind of year it was. Anyone that saw the play can tell it wasn't done on purpose.

Actually. After going back and rereading my own post, I understand why you thought that is what I meant. Piss poor wording on my part. :hi:

Based upon what I have seen this year...

Q: What is the difference between Cheerios and the gators?

A: Cheerios belong in a bowl

The SEC is loosing ground, and TN has been at the bottom of the barrel the last few years.

When are we going to climb out of this hole?.

When we get loose from what has been holding us back.

When we get loose from what has been holding us back.

It's going to take a few years to climb back but I intend to be patient. First step is to get at least to 6-6 next year and win the bowl game for an overall winning season.

Next step is to defend our home field the following year and climb back above Vandy, hopefully.

Year 3 will determine whether Jones has it or not; if we don't win at least 8 by then I'll be very disappointed and perhaps ready to go another direction.

The better example would have been "in 2001 when we lost to LSU in the conference championship game and were demoted from #2 all the way down to playing in the capital one bowl"

Harder to make the argument that a 4 loss team (2007) should be getting a BCS invite just because they made a conference championship game...

I'm still trying to figure out what LSU did this year to go 10-2 but freefall all the way to the Chick-fil-a Bowl while a SC team who also had 2 losses and a 4 loss MSU team both got to play in the better New Year's Day games.

Bama, LSU, FL, UGA, USClite, and Texas A&M will all be elite again next year.

I think this season showed 4 team playoff won't be good enough. It needs to be top 10.

BCS Standings
1 Notre Dame
2 Alabama
3 Florida
4 Oregon
5 Kansas State
6 Stanford
7 Georgia
8 LSU
9 Texas A&M
10 South Carolina

Top 2 get byes then 3 plays 10, 4 plays 9 and so on... This would have been more exciting than anything the NFL can provide in my opinion.

And those that say the SEC is losing ground take a look at how many we had in the top 10 end of the season. It's nuts....

Actually if it's showed us anything it's that a playoff isn't necessary. Just like the top 10 last year, there is one championship worthy team and 9 unworthy pretenders. Sadly, much like last season, an undeserving team is likely to take home the title this year.

IMHO the best team in the country as of now would be Texas A&M.

PS. Gotta love what Ole Miss is doing. A well coached team playing hard in the Bowl Game they were given.

Unfortunately for them, unlike in the NFL, the whole season matters in college football. It's not just a competition to see who can be the best in January.

The point is that uga is not all that, and without Herschel Walker on the team in 1980 there wouldn't have been a national championship then. Actually, uga wouldn't have been close. Then the last time uga won the national championship was in 1942 some 7 decades ago. Uga may be riding a little high right now, but plays a softer schedule than many of the other sec teams including UT.
