if this doesn't scare the crap out of you

Who cares what the parent packs in their kids lunches, it's nobody else's business especially the school. If I want to send my kid to school with a happy meal everyday that is my choice.

We definitely don't need government agents policing it. Throw that in the pile of trash they're throwing taxpayer dollars away for.

Could an FDA inspector tell the difference between a bento box and a turkey sandwich? What if the kid's family is part of an ethnic/religious minority who requires special food (halal, kosher etc)?

while I agree that's crap I still don't see it as the govts responsibility to police school lunches. I was a rail in HS and ate terrible food

In my wife's case, it isn't a responsibility issue, it's just being compassionate. I'm an anti-big gov't guy, too. It's just hard to turn your back on a five year old kid that has only one true chance for a decent meal on a daily basis...and that's when they are at school.

yep. few things more disheartening than an innocent kid with shii for parents.

I've had a kid break down crying at school, because it got called off early due to bad weather and they weren't going to get to eat lunch, and that's the only food he gets for the day.

my mother used to do similar things. I remember her keeping our old backpacks (old as in they were used the previous year) and putting them in her closet at school because she said there were always a few that couldn't afford one and were embarrassed. Also bought a bunch of extra school supplies (always out of her own pocket) just so they weren't left out.

a question I would like to know is are the parents ever notified that their kids need food to eat at lunch? Some places are serving all 3 meals and that's just getting ridiculous. It's truly becoming a cradle to grave society

It has been hijacked.

Evidently the American people must want to live in a nanny state or they wouldn't be voting for people like Barack Obama.

this is the scariest part to me

we have govt inspectors for lunches?

USDA inspectors....in North Carolina....you would think they would be busy with Taco Bell right now.

Wouldn't that be racist toward Latinos?

let's just cull the fat.

Bring on the mystery meat.

There you go, trying turn this into another gay thread.

Seriously though, an aquaintance of mine used to manage the local Sonic.

A new Chinese resturant opened up in town and was cutting into his business.

His kids had several pets that came up missing and he had them convinced the Chinese were serving captured pets in their buffet and of course his kids shared this rumor with all their friends at school and before long the parking lot at the Chinese resturant was habitually empty and they went belly up.

That was not only mean but now I have to drive thirty miles to eat Chinese any more.

Effective satire right there.

:hi:

As for the force feeding of chicken nuggets, did you hear about this one?:

Girl eats nothing but chicken nuggets for 15 years | The Daily Caller

Methinks the turkey and cheese was healthier than the chicken nuggets to begin with.

It isn't about healthy food, it's about exercising authority. (especially at an early age, so as to have a population who doesn't object to statist control of every aspect on each citizen's life.)

It isn't about disease and birth control, it's about erasing traditional morality and replacing it with another (evil?) set of ethics.

Neat picture. Except the state sponsored rape law in Virginia requires that women seeking an abortion get 10 inches of this:
