If this is the beginning of the end of Kirby Smart at Georgia- his executive decision to continue to play Beck in 2023 is what prevented a breakout

Love Kirby Smart. He’s done some great things for Georgia. Couple of head scratching decisions. The biggest one being—not having Stockton ready to roll in 2023.

Carson Beck was never a major starting QB. Alabama saw it right away. He has great tools, a great young man, and a great teammate.

But the way this season played out is precisely why he should have had Stockton hitting the field as early as possible.

Stockton played his ass off against Notre Dame but it was obvious he wasn’t ready for game speed for much of this season.

don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but next year won’t be a playoff year. And then we have no idea what our schedule will look like the following year, but I think it’s going to get more difficult to recruit and this may be the high water mark of Smart as Georgia's head coach.

I hope it is. And it’s going to be difficult to get back to where they were next year.

Fun year. Georgia should be proud they made the playoffs. Should have had Stockton ready for rush run after it was obvious Carson Beck wasn’t the guy. Instead we rode Beck for the entire 2023 season and missed the opportunity to really make progress in 2024.

It was so obvious. Mark Richt has lost control of Kirby Smart.

I think this is the beginning of the end of sec dominance. I’m not sure the top of the sec would hang in the middle of the Big10.

Absolutely, Smart will never top this season in the future, why should we even try? We should certainly fire Smart right now!

Kirby has made some very questionable decisions at the QB position over the years, but playing Beck wasn't one of them. He had a very solid year last year and was poised to have a Heisman type year this year. Hindsight is 20/20. I would assume UGA's problems were similar to UT's. O-line play and the WR position.

awesome. Thank you for the chuckle. Especially the part about Beck being a great teammate.

Were there any gems on the Dawg Vent after the game? I bet they were losing it over the running into the kicker call. They got neutered on that play.

Stockton was 20 of 32 for 234 yards and a TD...

If he had just a little help, it might have gone Georgia's way.

Glad it didn't though.

You can add Brock Bowers to the list too. If Smart had benched Bowers in favor of #39 last year, 39 wouldnt have been on the sideline this year to clip the refs and cost GA the game. Such an obvious mistake by Smart.
It was so easy to see, wasn't it?

Stockton has no where near the accuracy of Carson Beck. Beck single handedly kept them in some games and won some games due to that accuracy he can dredge up like a superpower. UGA will miss him next season.
