Let's face it, appearing in either the Music City or Independence Bowl is an insult to the UT program and us the fans. I live in Nashville and I would not go to see the Vols in the Music City Bowl if I had free tickets in a heated skybox with unlimited food and beverages and a designated driver to take me home. Suffice it to say there is no way I am going to spend any time or resources travelling to Shreveport for the other alternative. If Vandy beats the Wildcats this week (not a given I'd say) then I think CPF should not play any seniors or any other players who may bail early on us via transfer of the draft against the Dores. To Vandy fans, beating UT and going to a bowl game would be a dream come true. As much as a hate to admit it, losing another game at this point really does not matter to me. Also, I think that not appearing in a bowl will be less embarassing in years to come than having to listen to some Bammer trash talking about UT in the "weedeater bowl" 5-10-15 years from now (and you all know it will happen if we go there). Finally, giving some of our younger guys a little game time experience will probably produce more dividends than letting the underachieving seniors and prima donnas try to hang one on a VU. I am totally serious about this.
