Let's face it, appearing in either the Music City or Independence Bowl is an insult to the UT program and us the fans. I live in Nashville and I would not go to see the Vols in the Music City Bowl if I had free tickets in a heated skybox with unlimited food and beverages and a designated driver to take me home. Suffice it to say there is no way I am going to spend any time or resources travelling to Shreveport for the other alternative. If Vandy beats the Wildcats this week (not a given I'd say) then I think CPF should not play any seniors or any other players who may bail early on us via transfer of the draft against the Dores. To Vandy fans, beating UT and going to a bowl game would be a dream come true. As much as a hate to admit it, losing another game at this point really does not matter to me. Also, I think that not appearing in a bowl will be less embarassing in years to come than having to listen to some Bammer trash talking about UT in the "weedeater bowl" 5-10-15 years from now (and you all know it will happen if we go there). Finally, giving some of our younger guys a little game time experience will probably produce more dividends than letting the underachieving seniors and prima donnas try to hang one on a VU. I am totally serious about this.

Without a doubt, the most ridiculous post in the history of this board. The only thing that will be remotely redeeming about this season is when we deny the elitist wimps from Nashville a bowl game. If Vanderbilt went 0-11 every year, the world would be a better place.

You did not get enough redemption from the UAB victory? What greed you exhibit! Seriously though, I do not see any reason why UT should be in a bowl game. The players and coaches do not deserve it. Keep in mind some of our coaches may get bonuses this year if we do make the outhouse bowl or whatever a 6-5 records avails. Also, I am a little miffed at the poeple who run the Music City Bowl who have all but publicly stated taht they hope UT beats Vandy (translation: the powers that be think we are such rubes that we will flock to Nashville in huge numbers, dropping plenty of cash along the way, to see the worst team our school has fielded in nearly 20 years play the most inauspicous bowl game in which UT has appeared in a similar amount of time). Forget it!

Nothing will convince me that losing to Peabody College is a good thing.

I'm with you jr. It is hard to believe that a VOL "fan" would come on to a VOL site and say that we should not go to a bowl game.

I hope we win out and go to a bowl game. Those of you who don't want us to go, you have the right to not go and to not watch. But I will be there in my BIG ORANGE supporting my team and my school.

The players don't deserve it? What about the SR that have played for us for 4 years? How about Simon who has played his rear off and is a GREAT ball player and a class act? How about the D as a whole?
You should be ashamed of yourself and any other so called fan who thinks this way. This is bammer talk not VOL talk. The only thing missing from your post is a RTR.

Sorry, but this is big time athletics. While I appreciate history and tradition I do not care what the senoirs did last year or the two years before that. What have you done for me lately Vols? Zippo! Nada! Crapola! This team deserves a bowl game like Saddam Hussein deserves to be named President-General of the United Nations. I admit I am being selfish as a fan but I would much rather we not go to a bowl and I can enjoy watching some GOOD teams play over the holidays AND avoid the aforementioned embarassment of UT playing in some toilet bowl.

If you think that's funny then don't quit your day job, stand up comedy is not in your future.

Does he need to answer that question? I think we all know what kind of "fan" he is.

yeah, this is pathetic...

I for one would like to continue our streak of post season play to 16 yeas, regardless of which bowl it is....we are currently 3rd in that line of consecutive bowl appearances, and i would hate to see it end any time soon.

that still says a lot about the status of the program, even in a terrible year such as this..recruits do pay attention to that stuff, believe it or not.

"Deserve" is a relative term. if you win more than you lose when it is all said and done, then you "deserve" it. If you don't, then go home. Until it's proven otherwise, we still "deserve" to go if we win out.

Now, i won't be making any trips, and haven't since making the trip to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl against MD. that was awful, and i have only been lucky enough to go to 3 of our bowl games...Liberty against Minn, Cotton against Ark, and Peach against MD. If i had more time and money to burn, i'd go every year, regardless of what bowl it was.

You need to not post anymore for us to know what you are.

If any team members are reading this please know that this jack ass is not in the majority. To all the players, esp the SR I say thank you for all the work, effort and commitment that you have put in to our school. We thank you and are proud you wore the BIG ORANGE!

This is not a joke! UT does not deserve it this year. I am sorry, but 6-5 (if they even get there) and squeaking in the back door of some lame-O-rama bowl game is not what this team should strive for. If we were not in a conference that requires teams to play bowls then I would say let's try to win out and then turn down the invite as an admission that this team and staff has underachieved. Unfortunately we do not have that luxury.

I have rooted for UT for about 30 years and I always go to at least one game a Neyland every year. This is getting back to the same issue in the pre-Sanders demotion talks. Are you more of a fan if you stand behind the team no matter what like a blind homer? or are you more of a fan if you get pissed and demand something better in exchange for your continued support? I'm not going to say that either viewpoint is better but both are valid.
