You would not know pride if it was pointed out to you.

You have pride for your program but want them to end up at 5-6 instead of 7-5??

Yes OWB! Don't you know what pride is? LOL

This guy is an a total moron.

I'm so glad that all you "real" fans are willing to settle for what CPF and his team have dished up this year. Hey, maybe next year we can go 0-12 and then you can all prove your unending devotion to the Big Orange by root-root-rooting for the home team and shouting down everyone who criticizes that which needs criticizing. And I'm the idoit? yeah right, knuckleheads.

I never said that I was willing to settle but we're stuck with what we have this year. Changes are going to be made when this season is over. It's not like everyone is ignoring the problems that we have had this year.

Having said that, the "real" fans want our Vols to win out, go to a bowl game (which is one more game of experience for our younger guys) and then fix what needs to be fixed in the offseason.

You say that you have pride for our program and want to lose to Vandy......and you call US knuckleheads??? Get real.

so lets look at this a different way , you have a child and that child has pretty good math grades until he hits Algebra and boom the bottom falls out the 1st semester. You get him a tutor , help him at night with his homework the whole nine yards. Final exams are coming up, he can bust his hump to make a good grade and improve his overall grade or he can just say forget it a settle for a failing grade. What would you want your child to do and if his still didn't make the grade would you kick him out of the house saying "What have you done for me lately?"

Just forget it. You're all right and I'm wrong. I am past it now. Sorry for the "knucklehead" name calling.

I don't think anyone is settling for this season as being "acceptable" or even tolerable. And i also don't think that ANYONE has lacked in criticism this year...

The point is, when it is all said and done, the team underachieved based on what somebody in the media or some voter in a poll said during the summer. The thing that makes this even harder, is that for the first time in a long time, even CPF was touting this team as NC worthy...

But, pride? gimmie a break. you can't take pride in a losing record and not going to a bowl.

YOU can take pride that even in the worst of times as a TN fan, if we STILL end up with a winning record and playing in a bowl game, a situation a hundred other teams would take in NY second. it would be far worse to be 5-6 and sitting around watching bowls. then you really are like a KY or Vandy. As long as we keep playing in 'em, we're on a different level.

YOu take Rutgers this year or Memphis from a couple of years ago who haven't even been to the "lam o bowl" as you put it, in eons, finally got their shot to play in post season play, even if it is a Dec 15 th game.

Those are programs that "settle" for that. The once in a while, pre new year's treat for a team that never gets to go anywhere.

For us, going to a bowl game, is like it being on the schedule. So yes, i take pride in that. And you should too, even if it is in Nashville or Shrevport.

You are fighting a losing argument. Whether the players, team, coach, etc deserve the bowl is not the most important thing according to what you have been posting. You say that the future is.... "play more reserves against Vanderbilt". Guess what... UT will get more playing time for the returning players in the next 3 games, they'll still win each game, and USE THE EXTRA PRACTICE TIME AFFORDED ONLY TO TEAMS INVITED TO BOWL GAMES TO GET THEM EVEN MORE PRACTICE TIME! That is what is important regarding the future.

 You also show your hillbilly intelligence if you really think that UT will go 0-12 next season. :eek:lol:

Jealous of the education the students at Vanderbilt get?

Given that I passed up an undergad scholarship there, I can say absolutely not. Vanderbilt is simply an institution that doesn't accept their station in the world. No matter how much they pretend to be Stanford, Duke, or Princeton, the fact is they don't match up to those schools. Vandy's a good school with a solid regional reputation. Nothing more, nothing less.

Not to mention that the redshirt freshman get to practice with the team as well. We need the extra time in practice that you get from a bowl game. And please, who really is a fan who wants us to lose to anybody....and especially Vandy.

All this is getting old. There are good years and bad years. We've had a run of good years. This one isn't. I've not lost one minute of sleep worrying about it (OK, maybe 5 minutes the night of Oct. 22 but no more). My life doesn't revolve around the exploits or failures of a few dozen young men that I have ZERO control over. I'll celebrate when they win, then go rake the leaves. It's ONLY football, for heaven's sake.

Hillbilly you are not a fan. This post is a joke and you are a disgrace to Volnation. You are the type that gives up if you know you are not going to get your way. Anyone who wants to want their team to lose either has issues or not a real fan. Hillbilly is appropriate name for you.

This is about the response I would expect from a homer who willingly accepts lackluster performance from the organizations that he/she associates with. This whole season is the joke and people like you, who still blindly follow the beat of CPF's drum, are the punchline. :fool:

Why? Because I have some pride in the program and I do not think mediocrity should be rewarded?

How is wanting to lose to Vandy having pride? Let's win every game we can, win a bowl, and go into next season on a 4 game winning streak.

You're saying you think we should lay down and let Vandy go to a bowl INSTEAD? Hell no! If we have to "lay down" for them to beat us, how can you possibly say they are a BETTER team?!?! If they beat us on the field, then they deserve to go to a bowl, and we deserve to stay home, but to say "lay down so I can watch a better Vandy team play in a bowl" doesn't even make sense.

Without a doubt, the most ridiculous post in the history of this board. The only thing that will be remotely redeeming about this season is when we deny the elitist wimps from Nashville a bowl game. If Vanderbilt went 0-11 every year, the world would be a better place.

You gotta be kidding me. That was a great post. I agree. I'm sick of this group of underacheivers. Play the youngers and show some fire. That would shock everyone on both counts and a step in the right directiontowards not cotteling the Kelly Washingtons of this class. Besides, I am a lifelong Vol fan to the bone, but I'm extremely proud of one TN team this year...our little brothers until kick-off. And as a blind-hater, you would sap any pleasure and sense of acheivment from the victory by the 'Dores that will probably occur anyway because of FAR SUPERIOR COACHING( if you are not for a change in the TOTAL coaching staff at UT then this should open your eyes). Huge statement move by Fulmer may change my mind about him!!!!

:( This is a sad post. The team needs to win the last three games and go to a bowl. Let the team see what winning is like. This will build confidence for next year.

For the ones that hate it don't go.

This is not a joke! UT does not deserve it this year. I am sorry, but 6-5 (if they even get there) and squeaking in the back door of some lame-O-rama bowl game is not what this team should strive for. If we were not in a conference that requires teams to play bowls then I would say let's try to win out and then turn down the invite as an admission that this team and staff has underachieved. Unfortunately we do not have that luxury.

Guys!!! Why even argue? There is no doubt you are going to lose to Vandy so just go ahead and accept it. Jay Cutler is the Real Deal and you will not be able to stop him.

Yeah, right. I'm sure Vandy's dream is to beat Tennessee's second stringers. As far as Vandy being more deserving of a bowl, look at who their wins are against. I'd rather go 6-5 with an NIT bowl game than lose to Memphis, Vandy, or UK.
