If Vandy wins the NC how ‘bout an asterisk?

So...two SEC teams playing for the National Championship but neither could get to the SEC Championship Game...I'd say that's a fairly stout league! In my mind...Vanderbilt will always have a doubt by its name win or lose in this Championship....The biggest advantage gained was the extra days rest to the pitching staff IMO...

Lot's of unearned credit went Vandy's way in this CWS. To DQ Ncst over covid tests (similar to Jon Rahm when He was leading by 6 going into Sunday ) is a vast overreach of AUTHORITY. Just part of the Show; keep the narrative and fear going. GET YOUR SHOT!! * meanwhile the stands were packed with spectators and none were tested.

You should get your shot. I think what happened to NC ST. was BS, but your constant Alex Jones bull**** ranting about COVID is beyond stupid.

I'm not thrilled about it, but come on. An asterisk?

I'f the same this happened to UT, nobody would be whining about it. The NCAA screwed up badly, but Vandy shouldn't be punished for it.
If that's the case Mississippi St's NC should have an asterisk also.

Why would or should they have an asterisk? They played 4 games out of the winners bracket to get to the finals Vandy played “3.5” games out of the losers bracket and got an extra day of rest vs. MS St. State would very likely have not faced Rocker till Tuesday at the earliest and likely not faced both at all. Now they’re guaranteed to face both if it goes to 3 games and possibly both regardless, if Vandy throws Rocker tonight on 3 days rest (which I hope they do). The Vandy pitching staff would’ve been “hurting” if chalk had held, instead they’re waltzing in with the best situation possible, especially given they’re coming from the losers bracket.

No asterisk for whoever wins. Life and sports ain't fair.

State would have played and beaten every team that was put up before them according to the rules of the tournament when it started. Vandy didn’t have to do that. THAT is the difference.

The same people that wants the asterisk on Vanderbilt should be willing to take one for Tennessee winning the East due to the other team having bad luck due to a rainout!

I'm not being a jerk, but so has Vandy..................according to the rules of the tournament. Covid protocol is part of the rules.
I don't like it and think it sucks for NC St, but ...................

Those are the rules when the season started. Every coach knows this. BTW, that was also the weekend Vandy rested Lieter so no guarantee they'd beat Alabama with a 4th pitcher throwing.... Bad luck is part of it...just like Tennessee losing their best pitcher early in the year for the season.

Are we going to put an asterisk in front of the 1998 TN football Championship since Arky had us beat?

I think Vandy earned the opportunity to be at the CWS and to be in the championship game. The team never quit even when it looked like they were going to lose. Yes they got very lucky when the game(s) were affected by Covid and saved Leiter (SP) from having to pitch against NC State. Vandy will probably win it all now that their pitching rotation has been reset for the final series but you don't make 4 trips in 7 years to the CWS without being good.

Not a Vandy lover just a realist.

Not even remotely the same thing as this.

I'm not big on the asterisk other than it's Vandy and I hate them; but this is a horrible comparison.

A) I personally don’t like claiming an East title because it wasn’t “earned” on the field and we lost the head to head with y’all

B) however, anyone (i.e. the SEC) can look at a forecast and deduce that the weather doesn’t look great a day out and make it a doubleheader on Saturday to get all the games in. If Sunday turned out beautiful oh well, we still got the same results
