Are we going to put an asterisk in front of the 1998 TN football Championship since Arky had us beat?

I think Vandy earned the opportunity to be at the CWS and to be in the championship game. The team never quit even when it looked like they were going to lose. Yes they got very lucky when the game(s) were affected by Covid and saved Leiter (SP) from having to pitch against NC State. Vandy will probably win it all now that their pitching rotation has been reset for the final series but you don't make 4 trips in 7 years to the CWS without being good.

Not a Vandy lover just a realist.
This is why I wish you could downvote on this site.

A) I personally don’t like claiming an East title because it wasn’t “earned” on the field and we lost the head to head with y’all

B) however, anyone (i.e. the SEC) can look at a forecast and deduce that the weather doesn’t look great a day out and make it a doubleheader on Saturday to get all the games in. If Sunday turned out beautiful oh well, we still got the same results

Coaches do (B) several times each year. Vandy chose to take their chances with the rain out rather than possibly lose a game with their 4th or even 5th guy going.....it wasnt without thought.

You should get your shot. I think what happened to NC ST. was BS, but your constant Alex Jones bull**** ranting about COVID is beyond stupid.

Idk. I'm all for the common sense COVID procedures and I'm fully vaccinated, but I think it's ridiculous for the NCAA to be so nipitcky over COVID with the players while letting the fans pack the stands without getting tested. If the NCAA were so worried about COVID then they would be limiting fan attendence but they aren't, so I find the whole thing re NC State to reek of hypocrisy, which is status quo for them.

Honestly re Vandy, I find Stanford's epic choke against them more annoying because I think NC State was 100% going to lose that game should it have been played, anyway.

I don't disagree, I'm just sick of every thread about COVID him posting his Alex Jones level garbage.

Lot's of unearned credit went Vandy's way in this CWS. To DQ Ncst over covid tests (similar to Jon Rahm when He was leading by 6 going into Sunday ) is a vast overreach of AUTHORITY. Just part of the Show; keep the narrative and fear going. GET YOUR SHOT!! * meanwhile the stands were packed with spectators and none were tested.
Yeah the stupidity and hypocrisy is stifling. I couldn’t agree more. Really felt bad for Jon Rahm too but he got full revenge with a major!

The same people that wants the asterisk on Vanderbilt should be willing to take one for Tennessee winning the East due to the other team having bad luck due to a rainout!

Wait minute - you Vandy fans have made a lot of noise that there's no room for bad luck in baseball - NCSt knew the rules going in to Omaha, so there's no EMPATHY FOR THEM. Vandy knew the rules going into that series yet chose not to play a make-up game. NO SYMPATHY for them. NO SOUP FOR VANDY!!

How do you know there is zero evidence?
Why doesn’t she expound on it or clarify it? Throwing a blanket statement like this out in the media leads everyone to the assumption that it’s a Mississippi State fan(s) because A) they’re losing so they’re mad B) why would a Vandy fan say it about their own player or player’s family C) we’re Vandy we’ve been woke since 1619 D) they’re from MS of course it would be one of them. Now all of those could be true or it could be none of them but will lead to the same assumption regardless. Her statement can’t help but have a certain level of subtle implications in it.

I almost see this an attempt of feeling sorry for them because they had 36 parents there compared to the 40k miss st fans. I don’t tolerate racism but geez I’m over Vandy and their no fans in any sport except for an annoying whistler.

Yes absolutely 100%.

Oh wait, I just looked up the meaning of the word asterisk. I thought it meant the risk of your University being hit by an asteroid.

My answer is still yes.

I give this situation a fairly high chance of having happened. However, I don't tweet, so....am I supposed to know who this person is and take their assertion that the "n-word flew" as actual evidence? Real question there, because some people's word is that golden.

Also, what's MSt supposed to do? Their "standing with Vandy against racism" also isn't evidence that it really happened.

State would have played and beaten every team that was put up before them according to the rules of the tournament when it started. Vandy didn’t have to do that. THAT is the difference.
I say "Quit Whining over nothing". Also be glad we have two SEC teams playing for the Championship. Yes, it would have been great if Tennessee had won but why criticize the remaining teams? No one likes a Debbie Downer!

I have no idea why UT fans GAF about conference pride. You think Vandy and MSU being successful helps us in any way? We are fighting both of those teams for recruits, Vandy especially. IDGAF if any SEC team except UT is successful in any sport. And some teams, like Vandy, Bama and Florida I never want to see be successful in ANY sport. I actively root for their failure in the case of those three. Not to mention Vandy and a team that got run-ruled twice in Hoover while we went 2 and Q isn’t exactly the most wholesome final. I’d much rather see NC State or Stanford meeting Texas in the CS, personally.

I don’t give a damn about the SEC. I heard for years when Bama was down , how “the SEC needed Alabama to be good”. ********. Florida-Tennessee-Auburn/LSU etc were more than carrying the weight of the SEC.

How many people have said SEC needs Tennessee to be good? None! But they do. SEC East sucks with Tennessee not being competitive.
