If we added two 4 stars and a 5 star to the current list, where would that put us?

Okay, i just looked at Rivals and if you put Warren and Morley in our list as 5 stars and Faison in as a 4 star, we immediately jump up 20 or so spots. The problem is that we didn't help ourselves much at the defensive line spot. Overall, it is not as bad as people are making it, including myself. It does suck though when you look at Alabama and ND's list and wonder how they got all of these players while sucking last year and we go to the SEC Champ game and win a New Years day Bowl and it doesn't help us a bit. Hell, it looks like it hurt us. Something is still not adding up when we have such a big need at the d-line spot and the players would rather wait in line at another SEC school to play.

The DL need might be a tad exaggerated.

Bolden, Williams = solid starters.
Langley = young unproven guy but good enough to scare off guys that want to be handed a starting spot.
Fisher = Decent backup
Nelson = Project that played well until he broke his wrist.

Then add to it that Gerald Williams will probably be a DE. Then look at Ayers, Brown, Walker and Martin. All solid DEs.

Then add to it that UT has 3 JUCO DLs coming in in 2009.

It seems like the DL needs are a little bit exaggerated.

Well, I agree... it isn't the "world is over" that some make it out to be... but it is the focal point of concern for me at least on our team. Our DEs have potential, but nothing proven. That could easily work in our favor, as opposing Offenses have nothing really to work on as far as expectations. But it is more the lack of viable depth that has me concerned.

Okay, let's assume that it isn't as bad as we are making it. Guys are still signing with teams that have several other signees at their positions. Why can't we lure in some defensive lineman? Why are players willing to wait in line and possibily not get to play when we seem to have a better opportunity for them?

Maybe those DL's that did not choose UT read our board and saw all the grumbling about Chavis and then saw the exodus of coaches leaving and figured Chavis could be a short timer.

In 98 we basically rotated two seperate defensive lines. There wasn't a dropoff from one to the other. Right now you could argue that we have one solid line much less two. I can't figure it out there does seem to be something wrong with this picture.

In all reality, Morley, G. Williams, and Faision are two 4 stars and a 5 star and Williams is almost a 5 star. I'm not sure if any of these guys are listed under our current signing class with stars beside their names but they are going to be on the field next year and it should count for something. I feel like people are forgetting that these guys should be included on that list since they are on the team.

What I find extremely humorous is that all you Fulmerites act like we're the only school in the nation in this situation. There are kids that aren't included in every other team's current year list also.

See my previous post. You Fulmerites amaze me.
