in roughly 11 hours, there are going to be a ton of people who claim that they want [insert qb's name here] more than scroggins anyway. personally, i like what i've seen of rettig, but i would rather scroggins shock the world based on how well he is known right now. rettig doesnt quite have the name value to pull in as many other recruits as scroggins, IMO.

He may not be JS, but recruits follow and know of other recruits. He's a big name as of late, and he's being followed up on by recruits. Not JS but a compareable recruit who's improving and getting better. It will depend on his season also. It's still early. I haven't given up on JS. CLK will get a good QB this class.

why would u think he would commit if we get him here? isnt that what everyone said about if he would get an offer,that didnt happen now did it.. i lost faith in the recruiting of a quartback....

I was one of those that wanted us to offer Rettig (after he showed up well at all the camps) right away, and let the chips fall where they may (whoever commits first gets the scholly).
With no Scroggins on board, I sure would like to see Coach Kiffin offer a handful of guys (Paul Jones, Rettig, Brunetti, Grayson, etc), committed elsewhere or uncommitted, and simply hold the scholarship up and say "First Come First Serve, guys!"

I would still like to get him. I wouldn't hold a grudge if this young man had a change of heart. I think we should try to get Grayson now and if we get him or another such as Brunetti to change their commitment then great.

I like our chances pulling one of the ND recruits over Rettig. Both of those guys are good enough to start so I could see one of them leaving rather than risking being the #2 at ND. Also, if Weis is on the hot seat after this season it could help pull one of those guys too.

I like Rees but since he was the second guy to commit to ND has me a little worried about getting him.

between accepting Rettig if he changes his mind and comes to UT and what Oku did. I personally like Rettig better than Scroggins based on the limited videos I have seen. I believe he has a stronger arm and not as much of an EGO as Scroggins has. But on that note I will be thrilled and will root for Scroggins with all my heart if he chooses UT. ONCE A VOL ALWAYS A VOL.:)

I would be surprised if this were the case, unless they are only pushing for Rees since ND already has another QB and they think they have a better chance with him. I know Rees had an offer before Rettig, but recently Rettig's stock has shot up. IMO, he is the better QB of the two.

I really do not care to go after Hendrix, he could stay where he's at for all I care. I would like to see some video of Rees since their isn't much to look at but if the staff wants him then that's cool with me. Their opinions are the ones that matter anyways.

Rettig married the first girl who kissed him and a lot of times the first girl you kiss isn't the best looking thing in the world but at the time it happens in your mind she is the most beautiful thing in the world....But then the sexy cheerleader comes along and thinks your cute and because your sooooo in love with that first girl you make the mistake of not tasting the candy in the other store and after awhile are left with a disappointed miserable woman who ends up making your life a living hell....Point being, When he is in boston I hope he has a great career but everytime he has those icecicles hanging off his facemask and is putting on 3 layers of clothes to keep warm and is suffering through 6-5 or worse seasons I hope he reflects back when that sexy girl winked at him and offered him a chance to be with something better....I say we go after Newton and destroy the SEC...But that's just me

I don't think we can pull him from BC unless they go after someone else as well. I also agree with Larry about Rees. We didn't offer Rettig before Rees, so that tells me where both stand on our board.

I see what you and Larry are saying and you may both be right. But, don't you think Rettig's stock has risen significantly since UT offered Rees and they might look at Rettig a little differently now? I don't know, to me, Rettig just seems to be a better fit for UT, especially with his arm strength.

If it's about stock rising, we will probably go after Tyler Bray harder than Rettig, based on that alone. By some accounts, he was the 2nd best QB at the USC camp.

What is the situation with Cam Newton??

Have we not offered him because we are waiting to see about Scroggins? Have other schools offered him?

We haven't offered Cam because he is down our QB list. They want to evaluate him more this fall, but even then I don't see him with an offer. He's going to end up back with Dan Mullen, IMO.

You have a good point Eric. Apparently Bray has been impressive in the elite 11 as well. Let me ask you something, do you think if Scroggins does commit to UT, which I doubt btw, USC will offer Bray and Rettig and say first come first serve? I can see Rettig wavering with BC if USC offers and they have to be impressed with Bray by what he has been doing in camps, including theirs.
