Lets at least play them close enough, and make them look bad enough to where they get jumped by Oregon and Florida State in the rankings and ruin their Nat'l Championship hopes! If we can manage to do that, that will be victory enough for me this year! Screw the whole "SEC Brotherhood" philosophy! Buck Fama!

I agree. **** the sec. I'm a vols fan. We recruit against our competition. Why the heck would I cheer for them to win titles and win over recruits that the vols are after? To hell with the sec. GBO!!

This^^^^^

We dont share in the victory if Bama wins the title. I'm proud to be a part of the SEC but it's Tennessee or nothing.

Yes...Go Vols & then maybe I pull for SEC, depends on the team. I can honestly say this, if it does end up as Bama in the NC game, I'll be cheering on whoever the other team is. I'm so sick of Bama.

Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Southern Calif., Texas, and Oklahoma are about the only teams I would be pulling for Alabubba to win against. That's it. Go Big OrAnGe!

VOLS first, SEC second, but never, ever, ever bama (or georgia).

Vols first... and that's it as far as I'm concerned!! The way I see it, it does not benefit Tennessee one bit when Bama or Florida win a National Championship! It only benefits those teams and their recruiting! The notion that we get better by proxy is ridiculous! I am for Tennessee, not the SEC!

I NEVER pull for FL no matter who they are playing. All other SEC teams I pull for depending on the situation and who they are playing. If it's a bowl game, I'm usually for the SEC team....except when it's FL (or Vandy).

I miss being in the BCS mix and pulling for everyone we played to be unbeaten when we got to them.

I think that if we lose by one point on a hail mary pass, Bama will still be #1.
They are ranked #1 because of what they've done the last few years, and I don't see the voters changing their minds. Subjective polls will always be exactly that.

Anybody else think that going to a playoff next year will make the whole routing for other SEC teams thing much less common?

The goal this week is to beat the spread.

That's a pretty terrible goal considering how much the spread is. I would have to say I will be very disappointed if we lose by a more than 2 touchdowns. I honestly feel we will make this a game.

Reasons Alabama is ranked number one in the land:

Alabama's defense allowing the nations fewest red zone trips in college football.
Alabama has allowed one red zone trip in the last 3 games.
Alabama's defense #1 again.
Alabama's defense, where red zone dreams go to die.

Alabama's offense averaging 40.7 points per game.

The Real Reasons Bama is #1 (you really think the voters are analyzing it that much?):

1) The SEC has won the past seven national titles, and Bama is currently undefeated in the SEC.
2) Bama has won the past two national titles and is currently undefeated overall.

It really is that simple.
Tusk's analysis would have to be weighted against strength of schedule.

I'm not arguing that Bama isn't the best team. I'm just saying that if someone had been kidnapped by aliens in January of 2006 and then returned to Earth this past September, he'd probably be voting a different team, such as Florida State, #1.

Bama has played one lightweight opponent after another lately, and the games have come very easy. And, they've gotten used to the Vols not putting up much of a fight.
It's possible we'll catch them off of their game a little.

I hate Bammer. That being said, they should remain # 1 until someone beats them. They've earned that right.

I hope the Vols pull off the win, but there is the chance for a blowout. No matter what happens, we cannot discredit the improvement we've seen with this team over the past 2 months. Alabama's the # 1 team in CFB coming off 2 BCS NCs. We're having our best season in 3 years with a 4-3 record.

Such a tough schedule, they have.

SOS, 31st in the nation, but SOS is always tits on a bull. Who you play, when you play, where you play, who's playing, who's hurt. Nonsense, more or less.

BAMA is still passing the eye test. They are strangling offenses to death and are so offensively balanced that the opponent can't get off their heels.
